Indian Politicos dont want Able intellectuals but YESMEN.
Because none could match Tharoors smartness and intellect and his NextGen attitude so the Band-of-SATANs just managed to push his aside because he was alone.
Remember Kerala is one of the most neglected-small state with least opportunities for the educated.

Of corrupt politicians
by gittanjali on Apr 19, 2010 10:58 AM  | Hide replies

Irrespective of the fact whether Tharoor is guilty or not ,the sleaze and the greed.

One thing is clear, anyone who comes as a breath of fresh air, in this case Tharoor with his academics and background he seemed to be someone whom India Inc could look up to..

Alas, his attitude and western concepts did not gell well with our dhoti clad politicians who are so used to see and digest the likes of Maya,Koda and laloo-corrupt yet acceptable.

Its a sorry state of affairs and sadder still that Tharoor did not know how to present himself in India where people are looking for opportunities to pull a person down.

I hope he learns his lesson and let his achievements be wasted.

Corruption should be punished..I dont think that somebody's sauve nature or western outlook becomes a basis for keeping them ministers..its a very elitist thought process..

Because of inability of certain people and powers to do so..Does that mean they are innocent? No..Does that mean, that when the law catches up, they still be safe? No..About Laloo, ask Madam Sonia Gandhi why he wasnt punished..

Entire Article cant point out a single mistake by Tharoor.
It is a piece of story with pre-conceived nefarious design and assumed wrongdoings all in mind but cant point out a single piece of it.

What is the mistake being an Businessman and cant a businessman be honest or big in his ideas ?
Entire article is the outburst of a sick mind.

Media disparity and
by shanoj kumar on Apr 19, 2010 10:54 AM  | Hide replies

Media always wants TRP, even if it harms the nations interest. Though not a great fan of Tharoor, I felt he is less evil than the most of the poiticians in power. He can no way be equated with the corrupt powerhouse like Mayawatis, Laloos, Mulayams, reddys of the world who plunder the nation and the natural resources. They are still enjoying power and will continue to do so. The only difference between Tharoor and other politicians was INEXPERIENCE.

media should ensure Lalith Modi is ousted from IPL. Tharoor and Lalith deserve punishment. BCCI will put the wrong doings of Lalith under the carpet. Any issue of this kind BCCI does that. Media should also not ask the opinion of Azar. Unfortunate he has opened his mouth recently on this issue. He started it all.

Politicians’ mindset
by Sebastian Cherukanam on Apr 19, 2010 10:54 AM  | Hide replies

After getting elected as the President, Obama told the Republicans that though you didn’t vote for me, I am your President as well and therefore, will serve you all. I say this is the mindset one elected representative must cherish after a successful run in a democratic process and that is in fact both the power and beauty of Democracy. But in India, we have Congress Prime Minister, Dalit, Communist, BJP Chief Ministers, Congress/BJP/NCP MPs and MLAs (even the President acts like a Party’s representatives sometimes!). Can anyone show me an MP or MLA who represents the people as a whole like what Obama said after the election? In India, it is not Democracy but PARTICRACY that prevails and that is the tragedy India faces.

Now Shashi Tharoor was blaming the media by saying that he had been doing hundreds of good things as Minister but the media never paid any attention but when a scandal like the IPL one comes up, media gives wide coverage to it. This is another wrong notion Indian politicians keep in mind. He doesn’t even consider the hundreds of good things he had done as his responsibility as the Minister, instead consider them as some extra-ordinary things he did for which he must be rewarded. If so, what he thinks his responsibilities as the Minister?

Tharoor is not an exception. After allocating fund for some agriculture program to Kerala, Pawar pretends as though he has done some favor to Kerala and that too giving out fund from his own pocket! He and all ministers in general forget the very fundamental democratic principle that is once in such a position, it becomes a natural responsibility to look beyond party/state boundaries and self interest and work for the people who represent.

Now coming back to Tharoor saga, is his resignation an adequate punishment if the corruption charges against him proved right? If so, any minister can plunder the nation and then just resign from the post and then lead a luxurious life thereafter. I say, this resignation must be considered as the first step in the process and once proved guilty; he must be put behind bars.

Now Congress asked Tharoor to resign, why? It is because he has not a party like NCP behind him to threaten the government of withdrawing support. Are all others enjoying life in the Capital good Samaritans? Tharoor’s resignation must be the beginning.

Then what about MMS receiving bribe worth Rs.50 Lakhs from Infosys in the name of an award to her daughter? Why I repeatedly taking this issue up to tell that even the most respected leaders do corruption in one form or the other in India. A clean sweep is the need of the hour.

Sunanda Pushkar, after surrendering the ‘SWEAT’ Equity wishes Kerala and cricket in Kerala well! Who is she to wish Kerala? When accepting Sweat Equity worth Rs.70 crores, was it love for the cricket, Kerala and the Malayalees there in her mind!! I just wonder how some people consider themselves as extra-ordinary and even Gods and their confidence in them of befooling everyone around them forever!!! She surrendered her Sweat Equity means she already received or will get much more than that in some other from those who are the real players and therefore, her and her associates’ complete financial and other activities must be monitored in future.

I voted the Congress looking at Shashi Tharoor......
by Congress Supporter on Apr 19, 2010 10:52 AM  | Hide replies

Inspite of my friends warning me, I voted last year to the Congress, as I felt people like Shashi Tharoor will clean up the party and vindicate my stand.

Tharoor made a mistake and Congress starts calling him a liability, embarrassment etc.

How clean is Congress itself? I wish to know will they expose all their so called LEADERS?

I dont know about others, but my eyes have now opened and hereon for me it is the BJP, I will never vote the Congress again.

Down with Congress
