good engineers required for technological advancements are moving out to work for companies like Boeing, NASA, nobody wants to work in Indian defence establishment, no wonder mediocre level scientists are working in HAL & DRDO who cant even match up the current standards. We must retain our scientists/engineers, if anyhow these people still leave for lucrative jobs abroad they should be stripped of their Indian citizenship

so u mean brahmins are most intelligent? and only they should rule or dominate? like they are doing it for the past two thousand years?

u got it wrong Kenny...talent and educational qualifications should be the eligiblty criteria not in which caste one is born in... Now a days to serve ones country in technological fields like HAL, DRDO, ISRO etc one needs to be born in specific caste...which is more heart buring for true patriots.....

@kruise: you are mis understanding "test". he meant talent should be the yardstick for entry to an intitution or an organisation. there you may have bramhins, SC, ST, OBC whatever.

get caste off your mind man. anybody who has the merit should be the ones working on this. else we unnecessarily spend billions buying such stuff when the money could have been diverted to indegeous needs.

very closely monitored the development history and the work done is beyound expectation. The team has developed 4.5 gen aircraft from scratch from 2nd gen. aircraft to 4.5 gen aircraft and with all types of restriction on technlogy transfer and know how, even today some agencies has refused to work on LCA Tejas.
What do you expect more.
Tell me any other developing country with this achivement.

yes, but with our "best" brains we would have achieved more. we lose our best brains due to reservation, non-conducive enviornment at home etc.
Tejas is a new aircraft and its battle worthiness plus technology seems to be hanky panky, therefore aircraft with proven track record needs to be inducted
We have made an aircraft from scratch. It is an achiement. US and Russia have a more than 60-70 yrs of experience in aircraft making so we cannot compare ours with them
Re: Why Govt 126 Aircrafts from abroad?
by anthony varghese on Sep 21, 2009 01:46 PM
Indigenisation is both a time consuming and a costly one.But one which has to be done.Nevertheless, we also have to make sure that the balance of air superiority should not tilt to our disadvantage. The order for 126 multi-role fighters is just the right medicine for that.We will need these aircrafts till our own MCA or the Medium combat aircraft is ready for induction. So it's better to have both foreign acquisitions and indigenious procurements.

Because LCA/Tejas keep getting delayed in Sarkari Style.. and god knows if they will really fly (outside tests). Sarkari.

It did not get delayed with sarkari reasons. It got delayed bcz of various reasons like IAF changing parameters midway, US preventing FBW software to be brough back to india, Newer tech needed infrastructure to be built up etc. Having followed the development for so long. Iam proud of what our scientists have achieved from a clean slate. You are still slavish to see it.

It is shame that we are not able to build our own aircraft engine. Indians are good technologists and surely Indians can build good engines provided our politicians & babus give up their attitude.
