DICPAL
Regarding Fire
by DICPAL on Oct 31, 2009 07:08 PM

Hello,
This is Dicpal doing Masters in Fire and Explosion in United Kingdom.

The only thing that the fire department can do during this period is to evacuate the people from the near by area, so that they are not affected and also start cooling the areas beside the plant which can be ignited due to heat produced from fire as then can catch fire due to radiation.

Also This kind of fires in INDIA need to be investigated by a proper agency so that the reoccurance of the disaster can be avoided and also the industries will come to know about the preventive steps for that and many other things.

So Keep going my Fire Fighters u are the only hero here.............................

by Surendra Bhati on Oct 31, 2009 05:09 PM

Due to Tragedy on IOC Depot Jaipur people are making negative comments and spreading foolished comments by showing fire which actually has no solution except to wait to avoid action in Residential Area of Jaipur.
I am annoyed with comments made by several Pilots during flight passing upon Jaipur regarding the Fire at Ioc Depot and showing passengers the view of Tragedy aaah .......
what a pilot willing to show his Mental level ?
causing negative wibes in travelers?
Making fun of Indians and a Sad Tragedy ?
Airlines shall not allow such comments from any one atleast to calm down the citizens of Jaipur and saving there Business too.

Do the IOC maintain any safety standards. The safety officer of IOC should be sacked.

The jaipur fire
by ARVIND KUMAR SRIVASTVA on Oct 31, 2009 02:29 PM  | Hide replies

What happened can not be brought back.
We need to take followingg actions immediately for other places.
1.There should always be a spare tank available to empty out a tank in case of emergency.
2.Sufficient foam / fire water protection ahould be available on site and must be operated periodically religiously.
3.In case of such huge fire , there should be carbon di oxide bombing provision in order to cut the source of oxyger from that area.America has this. This is a costly affair but looking at the loss one can think of this.
4.Provosion of inside foam on automatic operation shall be made for new tanks.
5.Safety audit shall be conducted everymonth and recommendations shall be implemented religiously.
6.Sufficient and periodical training must be given to operational persons as well as surrounding people shall also be trained to meet such emergency.

The petrolium minister always makes claims about self sufficiency in all things, where has that self sufficiency gone when the power broke out.Help should have been taken from advanced countries to put off the fire and reduce the loss.

use the oil pipeline to infuse whatever froth/water, etc are reqd to douse out the fire, as its too hot to physically reach the fire site from the outside.

IOC will never improper compared to other Oil terminals in INDIA. They are reckless, not fit for storing class A or B products.
IOC Manegement recuits staffs based on recommendations, bribes and their relatives. All are a bunch of problem creators.
If your serious, conduct a series of safety checks with them (without notice)& you will be surprised with results. Nothing more to say about these moroons.

mostly Paki-SIMI triggered this havoc.

center always close to SIMI:
they will never allow investigation of SIMI.

they will close this case ASAP.

thats why ministers are making such statements on TV.

When one does not know abc of any organization, such foolish comments should not be passed. Mishappenings may happen any where, but we should learn by them. Yes, such a loss could have been avoided.

Let all the oil burn down
by Vishwas Joshi on Oct 30, 2009 10:25 PM  | Hide replies

Where are now all IIT Chemical and Instrumentation Engineers who are always praised for nothing in India???? By looking at video on news it seems the fire is purposely set up. I have worked in Saudi Armaco - If the fire broke out in Petroleumn storage area generally there are ways that it dont spread to another tank or area but our great stupid Minister is saying that let all the oil urn down by itself thats the only way we can control fire - I cant stop laughing on his statement.

If like the officials are saying the tanks where holding 1,00,000 litres of oil product then we approx only 1500 gallons of foam to be spread over the tanks. I seriously feel bad about Indias situation in any major incident handling with lack of knowledge and big mouth netas who only come by special helicoptor and announce compensation. Now even Sonia gandhi and PM will visit the site after few days and waste more money in security and transport of theirs.

By their visit at least the burnt tanks and building will get a facelift.Public money will be wasted for the worthless meeting and eating to tackle fire in the future and the same vicious circle will carry on.

Hi Vishwas,

Thanks for the excelent info. Even i was feeling the same what you have described technically. That we dont have equpiments to handle this kind of accidents??
Which are majorly used by oil companies all over the world.
As we always say that india is developing country and we do not have basic infrasturcture for disaster. How can we forget the latest local train accident in Mumbai.

Also, if we ask any educated person he will reply the same (Foam Tchnology --- Which are shown on discovery channel regularly) but this Netas simply says let the oil burn out ........
