Just like Maoists, police also are extortionists. Forget remote areas, I have witnessed police hitting poor vegetable vendors and extorting money from them.

They are not supposed to hit thieves. They are people who are supposed to have faith in law and bring thieves etc. to justice.

Those "poor" vegetable vendors might have been illegal hawkers.

It is high time our Police force also is reorganized. We are still following the Indian Police Act of 1861 created by the European colonizers for supressing the natives.

Nowadays, most retired theives/goons join police services (constables)..they get these jobs after paying hefty sums to top up their previous earnings. Our police system sucks. As long as police is under the state govts/political control it will be like that. People talk about reforms after every terrorist attacks but nothing has been done so far. there is no pride or respect associated with this service.

Punish first all those politicians who protect these people.
by PIYUSH SHARMA on Oct 27, 2009 11:03 PM

We should punish all those politicians by using our votingright because they are the one who don't create earning opportunities for these people .
We should also teach a lesson to these people by allowing our brave forces with the use of bullets because we can't allow this epidemic to grow in other parts of country .

WILL YOU GO THERE?
by icshyderabad on Oct 27, 2009 11:02 PM  | Hide replies

This is a practical question. I am aware of remote tribal belts in atleast 4 Indian states. All Naxal infested. No one is prepared to undertake work there for safe water, sanitation, medical facilities etc., Why will anyone go there, when you kidnap even rail engine drivers. The tribals have to arrow these scum out.

You are absolutely right. The Maoists do not allow any developmental work in those places!!

So, is there any real logic for blaming the lack of development?

Absolutely right, these maoists are actually want these regions to remain as under-developed and poverty-striken,so that they run their reign of terror, encashing these issues. They don't allow any sort of developmental activities or NREGS schemes. They want to keep people poor and illiterate so that they persue their treason against the nation. And if anyone go to Nepal,he will find the actual faces of Maoists leaders, who own BMW or Mercedes and crores of assets......Yes this is the real face of these self-proclaimed crusaders of poors......And if all these elements want to do these filthy activities in that country to whom they profess ideological allegiance(i.e. China),then they will surely be crushed into pieces in no time

I had gone to Dantewade where I had to stay in secured compound of BRO. They were not allowing me out of their complex, without their vehicle even for buying cigerette. Gadchiroli was somewhat better.

No Private Contrator is taking up the work of construction of roads in these areas.

Surprising, Contemptible and Disgusting
by Haramohan Roy on Oct 27, 2009 10:58 PM

It is surprising, contemptible and disgusting that - even after this - some Indian intellectuals and some politicians (especially of one political party of Bengal which openly opposes the actions against the Maoists) continue to give moral support to the Maoists!

At the same time, the dithering attitude of the government (both at the state and the central levels) and inability to take really strong actions against the Maoists make the matter all the more complicated!

As long as there will be such elements, we cannot hope to get rid of this menace!

by icshyderabad on Oct 27, 2009 10:57 PM  | Hide replies

With acts like these, and killing villagers in the name of Police informers, burning away the equipment of contractors and Govt organisations, building infrastructure, blowing away cell phone towers, are they not impediments in improvement of India? Let these guys carry out these acts in China, from where they are getting funds, they will be shot the next moment.

You are quite right. Let us all go back to the ancient times - to the past centuries!!

Let us not bother with anything that is modern.

Next time, someone else might suggest going back to the cave-life, or to the stone-age, because - after all - mankind lived that way for centuries!!!

Very sound logic, indeed!

It is a very clever game. The Maoists deliberately prevent and stop the developmental activities. And then some others will reason the flourish of the Maoists on the lack of development!!

I had gone to Dantewade and Gadchiroli, two of the most Naxal infested areas in India. The Naxals/Maoists have now lost their ideology.
They are now more or less extortion mafias. The BRO Complex at Gadichiroli is a veritable grave-yard of burnt and damaged vehicles. They had abducted and ki111ed the Commandant of BRO at Gadchiroli some time back for failure to pay ransom. They are not allowing Private Contractors to build even Roads. The onerous task of constructing roads in these areas have now been entrusted to BRO. No area can develop without proper infrastructure.

Some tribals are exploited by the moneylender-land mafia-politicians nexus and they needs to be provided some help by the govt. No doubt about that.

What nonsense. Do you still believe India won its freedom? Britishers granted us freedom after second world war as they were too busy in rebuilding their own nation. Tell me a single place in India which has become cleaner greener in past 20 years. Every town has cut more trees, planted very few and increased garbage and filth in public places.

britishers laid 58000 km railway line (only to rule better) but after independene how many km have we indians added. i think not more than 5000 km.

what has happened to our home deptt. justice system, all the departments. how corrupt we have become. how much our politiccs ahs deteriorated after indepenence. the democratic stem introduced by these leaders has utterly failed.
