Tukaram, you were really a great hero
by rashmin m on Nov 27, 2009 08:22 PM  | Hide replies

May Tukaram's soul rest in peace. But i know it will rest in peace only when kasab, who's been pampered by india, will be given the ultimate punishment. He should be hanged in the middle of a big maidan & everybody should be invited to throw stones at him till his death...

Out of sight, out of mind is a common saying; and it becomes more important if the departed was a small keg in the wheel. He becomes expendable and therefore to be forgotten. It is only the big ones, with strings attached who are remembered and honored, with memorials etc. Agreed with Rashmin, and our prayers are with the family. May he rest in eternal peace.

It is impossible that such a brave man's soul will rest in peace till this Kasab whoz well fed by our Great Congress Govt. is hanged. Seems far fetched. They get jitters when asked about local connection in the 26/11 attack.

As for our Indian media, shame on you guys & a very irresponsible behavious of screening everything live & the Govt. didn't even bother to stop....we will never find out.

The people killed in the local train blast have been long forgotten by this media. They only wish to speak about the Taj. None even utter anything about the CST massacare.

Is it due to the fact that the people who died at the CST were from lower strata of the society and those in Taj were from a higher strata?

by Maya Sen on Nov 27, 2009 04:48 PM  | Hide replies

What information we got from Kasab? What was use of that information? Our government is a impotance no use - instead we are spending wasting time of judicery on kasab - and all media show how kasab is laughing in court

Kasab is charged with waging war against our nation. So, he should be facing an in-camera military trial before a military court, and if found guilty, should face sentence by the Military authorities, as per the Military Penal Code.

Instead, we have this ongoing Circus of a public trial, with frequent adjournments, frivolous and mischievous time-wasting ploys by the defence, showboating and grand-standing by the defence lawyers, enormous costs of providing security to the court-proceedings, legal fees of defence-lawyer Kazmi beng paid for by the Indian Government, coverage by the foolish Indian media, etc.

Whom are we trying to impress ? The OIC (Organization of Islamic Countries) ? The U.N. ?

Are we trying to prove that, in India, even a terrorist garbage foreigner (Kasab is a Paki), who has been witnessed murdering innocent Indians by the entire world, will receive a public-court-trial before a wig-wearing-judge ?

Are we trying to score points with the Arab countries ?

How foolish !!

Dilution of Bravery Awards
Constituted first in 1950, the Ashoka Chakra is the highest award for gallantry away from the battlefield, or not in the face of the enemy. The Ashoka Chakra is an Indian military decoration which is the peace time equivalent of the Param Vir Chakra awarded for the "most conspicuous bravery or some daring or pre-eminent valour or self-sacrifice" other than in the face of the enemy. The decoration may be awarded either to military or civilian personnel and may be awarded posthumously. The very purpose of introducing this gallantry award is to accord due recognition to the individuals for most conspicuous acts of bravery of extremely high order.
We need to understand the aspects of duty and bravery in proper perspective. Clearly the roll of Shri Tukaram Omble, who has identified the attacker, understood the gravity of the situation and challenged the heavily armed deadly attackers in utter disregard to his own safety and life is the act of gallantry which deserves conferring this highest award.
Without intending to cast any aspersions on the competence and professionalism of Shri Hemant Karkare, Shri Ashok Kamble and Shri Vijay Salaskar, the acts of these officers do not appear to fall in the same category. It must be remembered that as the chief of ATS if Shri Hemant Karkare and other officers have taken certain initial actions, it was their duty. In any case no significant action was done by these officers against Mumbai attackers.

one hundred percent dot on target.
these other guys, although may be otherwise good officers were 'victims' of terrorism, like hundreds at CST, Taj and other places. ombale and the RPF constable at CST were genuinly brave. Media with its 'nautanki' is the principle culprit. they will obviously cover Kamte, because they are invited for the book release at five star hotel, where they will get free scotch and kabab. to Ombale's home they will probably have to go across dirty lanes. they will not like that.
gallantry awards are supposed to inspire the troops(and common people) to face odds for the glory associated with it. if they are given out like ' bandar baant' it looses its value, and purpose. like the national film awards they will lose relevence, and will be given based on political loyalties and connections. god save us from that day. no body (soldier) risks his life in exchange of the pay. life is not for sale in exchange of a monthly pay. that would be worst form of prostitution. people in power need to understand military sociology and psychology.
yes there is a need to create 'heros' even false ones at that, since there aren't any in police force. Then they shouldn't have been so shody in their work. this case is a badly managed event. here highest peace time gallantry award is given like the 'death gratuity'. i really wondered if his family was remembered by the state police either.

Thats the nature of our indian people. We have time to watch test cricket whole day but not to remember people like tukaram. Today we feel safe in home because of the people like Tukaram who are there outside working on their basic pay and protecting our people. At least we should try to prepare our son & daughter to have a patriotism for a nation and when needed ready to give up a live for the betterment of tommarrow.
