Ex-Air Chief should keep his mouth shut
by jfu on Nov 16, 2009 01:56 PM  | Hide replies

Since when did this precedent started for the defense personnel to open their trap before the press? They should upkeep the trust the nation has bestowed upon them, not that they should trumpet themselves & lambast the govt for its actions. The govt has handled the matter in all its collective wisdom in keeping with the then present situations. The Ex-Air chief should have been wise enough to understand that much. His credibility is now questionable.

This is a free country and the Ex Air Chief has all the right in the world to express his opinion that the law allows him to ... !
There is stench of sychophancy in your comment .
jfu read the article once again or twice again and you will find that the Ex-Air Chief did not blame the government He merely stated that the Government did not decide on air strikes ... !

v r only big mouths, v r trying to procure 125 fighter jets from last 8 to 10 yrs, but still not. Our IAF strength is in bottom level, having only 38 squadrans against sanctioned 51.Having all these facts how can one go or talk about war with countries like Pak or China whose strength is growing rapidly. But still v are saying that India is not of 1962, it is of 2009. This is big mouth isn't it???

War is not solution of terrorism. USA attacked Afghanistan and Iraq, but bomb blasts are daily there. Why this problem in Muslim countries. The answer may be lack of education, poverty, unemployment, hunger etc. Persons who are facing these problems are easily go for crimes like terrorism. These problems prevails in Pakistan, Afghanistan etc countries. Political people not caring to solve these problems

education, poverty, unemployment, hunger etc are indian problems also.. but we dont use terrorism as an excuse for diverting attention from the eyes of electorate like these neibhouring countries.. And if these countries do not solve the local issues and throw terrorism to us. what shd we do ?? how shd we save ourselves.. ? shd we see our people die just because these countries are not solving ..

Umesh,
i fully agree to your first sentence. yes pak was with US and india was with USSR.

And since, LKA was HM, visited USA and submitted our problems with pak.
Since, that time, we are poking our nose in US, and its really, shame for UPA to give the list of 60 terrorists ! why ?

Secondly, since NDA, what was our role on international issues, for example on Iraq, Iran and Afghan ?

Almost a year after the event it is time for a reality check. Is the UPA government pro-poor? To be sure it made considerable promises about activities such as the Employment Guarantee Programs but actions always speak louder than words. Two recent major policy initiatives indicate that the UPA government is not as pro-poor as one would have hoped

Unsureness about war
by KARTIC KRISHNAN on Nov 16, 2009 01:24 PM

It is always the duty of the armed forces of a
country to be ready for war. However, for a democratically elected government, was is always the last resort. Entering into war as a
result of terror strikes would only help the
terror groups in their objectives, viz., to set
up a stateless organisation of muslims. After all, terror strikes are about as regular within
Pakistan itself, before and even after 26-11

It is almost a year since the attack. And all that we have is sentiments of poor people.
We could not even protect the bullet proof jacket of ATS Cheif who tragically died! We don't call the man arrested by FBI by his true Pakistani name, so as not to hurt sentiments of our neighbour, but address him by an assumed name!
And KAsab's tantrums are reported as a reality show in media.

Sonia Gandhi, chairperson of India's ruling coalition, now visited the
twin Russian cities of Vladimir and Suzdal. Her father Stefano Maino --
who was an Italian soldier fighting against Soviet troops during World
War II -- was jailed in the region of the above said twin cities as a
prisoner of war for several years.
