Unfit politicians
by Chandrashekhar Kulkarni on Nov 17, 2009 09:46 AM  | Hide replies

Peep into history of India and you would find struggles, battles and wars all through out.

We have been continuously attacked from western direction and India has fought valiantly.

War is not new to us and unfortunately we have people who only understand language of war.

Current politicians are not fit to rule India. They are more of traders than rulers.

Indian history has been full of practically non stop violence, but they call themselves a peaceful and peace loving people.

Is it not a mix up of peace loving and lacking in courage?

Ex Air Chief
by vijaya govil on Nov 17, 2009 08:49 AM  | Hide replies

The report on what the Air Chief has said regarding the government dithering after 26/11,is absolutely correct. In our country the rulers i.e the so called political parties do not have a mandate to rule with only 50% of those eligible to vote actually going to the polling booths, and the winner being declared from amongst the candidates securing just about 40-50% votes. That makes it about30-35% of total electorate voting for a winning candidate. What kind of a mandate is then touted?.The Service Chiefs have to salute these idiots, whereas they themselves have a career graph of over 99% achievements but have to bend to the socalled mandate holders. An idiot like George Fernandes had the guts to dishonour a serving Naval Chief, and the political class did not even protest. It is the fault of the Armed Forces who engage in one upmanship and do not present a collective and cohesive front when faced by the so called government of Seedy politicians and corrupt IAS. In no country in the world do you see ass licking Beuorocrats dictating the finer nuances of defence policy. The NSA is an ex babu, what does he know about the Defence of the Country? AK Anthony the defence minister is known for a clean image but what does he know about defence?India is going to suffer another 1962 soon if the Service Chiefs do not do something soon, and if it happens then they will not be excused by the nation again, as the politician and the crooked babudom will pin it upon the Armed Forces.

Geoge Fernandes was one of the few men who had correctly identified our enemy no. 1.No one had the guts to speak out against the chinese. It is he who initiated defence ties with Israelis, he was the only defence minister who flew in the IAF aircaraft to see the problem that were plagueing the aircrafts. He is not what is said about him, otherwise you will never get any good ministers.

Why not tell us what quality Indian forces have over China?
by Steven Komakula on Nov 17, 2009 08:08 AM  | Hide replies

Wasn't that China's defense budget is 4 times as India's? and both countries have similary number of service persons? Let alone China builds most of things domestically, but India has no capacity to design and build any quality defense products domestically? That means China can not only build power at less cost, but also the miltary buildup in China can help R&D and industry in China. This situation is simple and clear. You can win only after you can correctly know your enemy and yourself. Lip service cannot win the war. The author can ask youself: China had displayed military power for its 60th anniversary, do you really think India can have such a military power? For India's interest, the only solution between China and India is the talking. War will hurt india more than China.

I too was frustrated with the Indian government since it never attacked pakistan. But Now I understand the chanakiya brain of the government. If it had gone to war, taliban and other other terrorist would have been ever close friends of the pakitani govt. Now see what happened. A war within pakistan. This would not have happened if India attacked pakistan. Also it would have been bad on our economy. A little patience did it all.

Dont Dont EVER underestimate the Chinese. I have worked with them for a long long time, and I can tell you guys, there are so many things to admire the Chinese for... For example, the Chinese NEVER waste their time gossiping or arguing. They just focus on the work at hand, and work hard. Extremely savvy about money, and every SINGLE chinese person has a PLAN.

I had the same impression about the Chinese, that we get to see in INdian discussion boards, but after having worked and lived with them, I can tell you that in 50 years this Country could very well be the Global leader that inspires other nations.

Talk about Indian brain far ahead of XYZ, shows how small the Indian brain and heart is.

Next generation world will head towards a plural and multicultural society - anything else is unreal and is transitory.

Mother earth is full of diversity in every step. Diversity is aligned with nature. Anything against nature will not last.

India, US and few other countries having "natural" policy i.e. multi cultural and plural society will survive the test of time.

Pakistanis, Bangladeshi and other countries based on mono beliefs and culture are against nature and mother nature will swallow them. They will not last. Either their mind will change or they will perish.

War is not a simple thing to be declared!!
by mallaiah anchoori on Nov 16, 2009 10:30 PM  | Hide replies

Such public statements by the people who matter-so much so by a key person in defence will go a long way in tarnishing the image of our country & also undermining our capabilities as a country though the Air Marshal might not have thought off so far!t is a pity tha,of late-more & more defence personnel especially after retirement are coming out with such statements which publicly speak of the insider stories in the govt which are sure to give a handle to our enemy countries. Is it that these people cannot think that much?Certainly it does not appear to be so.This is certainly not the way to sensationalise & be in the news.fter all, till yesterday, the Air Marshal was very much a part of the govt-executive wing.If if certain things are facts, they need to be held in the fist only in the interests of the defence of the country. How does Pakistan or China take such things? Will they not think that we have an incompetent govt which is meek & weak enough even to take decisions in matters of defence too?War is some thing which needs to be thought from all its facets & it is not that easy to wage a war.It shatters the economy of a country very badly since considerable funds need to be diverted towards that.Govt must have pondered over that carefully. If war is thrusted upon, certainly we are the last to go back. This had been proved in all the wars we fought with Pakistan & China. After all,we also need to show to the world that we are not belligerent & that the other country is at fault.

The image of the country is already tarnished by our spineless leaders who lack the will to confront the enemy face-to-face. What's more, the former Air Chief Marshall has only allowed the truth to come out, and the truth always does come out, no matter how hard one tries to suppress it.

Dear Parashuram!!
May I once again drive you to the fact that waging & fighting war is not that simple. It is not that it requires only a willingness, but also several strategies. We cannot impulsively,on the occurrence of that event itself leap into war field.what the Air Marshall told could be true, but certain things as this need not be made so explicit & public. It does more harm than good.We are that strong as US to declare a war immediately as they did after 9/11.We have our own limitations.Economically,we are just coming out of the impact of global economic slow down.I do not know who said it, but he was correct when he said that a one time war is a famine for decades together. To recover from its evil effects, it takes hell of a time.Destruction is always easy than construction Any way,if it is thrusted & there is no other go,no Indian worth his salt opposes the idea of confronting the enemy & teach him a lesson.Entering into a war is not only matter of guts, but more of wisdom to assess our strengths ^ evolve strategies to win over the enemy too.

I would trust the Airforce chief of the 4th largest Air Force in the World to be slightly more conversant about all this 'war strategy' gobbledygook you are talking.

What the Air Chief Marshall is saying is very apt, while the Armed Forces Commanders worked overnight and were battleready in no time, the IAS babus and mantrijis were scratching their bottoms, not knowing what to do...and pissing in their pants about Pakistanis attacking us back!

It is not that the Armed Forces do not have strategies for war, the US Air Force acknowledged the professionalism of the IAF during several rounds of war games that the Indians won in Alaska. IN the US there is a well established Civil chain of command that is quickly activated and works very closely with the Military Commanders...IN India, even if Pakistan attacks Mumbai style 3 times in the next 3 months...our babus will keep BSing the nation. We INdians will talk peace, and how destruction is easy, and global warming and some such.

Look at the US, 9/11 happened. The morons ruling Afghanistan left and ran into the caves, and US has been safe ever since. Why because those morons know that US is not like India, and will not hestitate to talk 'Destruction' if they are attacked.

No problem, next time there is a Mumbai style attack, we can always call in the Army guys and clear the terrorists. So what if we keep loosing a few Army soldiers in such temporary solution..atleast we have no large scale destruction.

War is a thing to be resorted as the last resort & not a first step to be initiated triggered by emotion. We cannot copmpare ourselves with the the kind of preparedness Us exhibited after 11/9 episode. Can we afford to do based on a decision taken in a fit of emotion? We never lagged behind to face & fight the enemy when situation warranted;we did fight three wars with Pakistan & replied the enemy befittingly. No doubt, the terrorist activity instigated by the Pakistani ISI Agency is the meanest & most dastardly act, declaring war immediately was not thee answer. We are also questionable to several outside countries too in case we jump into military action without allowing the Pakistan to explain themselves.Waging a war is not that simple as is told.

To make war is very easy and to make peace is very difficult. This is lesson we learnt from World War 1. Kanayalal Raina
