Congress has nothing to rejoice
by vijaya kumar on Nov 10, 2009 05:42 PM  | Hide replies

BJP is already a dead party. Forget about them. Rahul Baba's congress kicked out of UP by Mayawati. Rajbabar winning Firozabad is not a congress victory, as Rajbabar was appealing to voters in the name of his religion. It is an individuals victory. CPM is kicked out of WB by TMC not by Congress. If congress constested without TMC they would have not been able to win a single seat at WB. In kerala there is no alterative other than Congress. Every five year people their want a change.

IT IS A VICTORY OF TWO LADIES MAYAWATI AND MAMTA.

It's more about Left front loosing, less about TMC winning
by Biswajit Ghoshal on Nov 10, 2009 05:41 PM  | Hide replies

Left Front's total lack of ideology, corruption and looking after their own-men at every level starting from local administration to schools, universities and hospitals, total collapse of price-control, inability check local mafias and goondas has caused the defeat of the Lefts in Bengal. TMC and Mamata's good/bad works has nothing to do with it... in fact many in bengal believe that TMC is just the other side of the coin... but still people today are looking for that minor change, if any... such is the level of frustration of the people of Bengal.

you are not getting it my friend. Unless u are able to beat cpm on the streets they are not going to allow u tovote freely and fairly. goonda shakti can be countered similarly. mamata is doing the right thing.dont shed tears remember how cpm made life miserable for the last 32 years

price rise is only one of the issues...and true, it is not in the State's hand alone. The other issues are more compelling. Those words of Subhash Chakraborty "it is our legacy (parampara) to bring people from outside of the constituency for "work" (of beating the hell out of the opposition workers?) during the poll" still sends chill through my spine. Had Buddha become CM 15 years ago, CPM would have had hope today.

quite sensible comment biswajit.
These people have talked about the poor and have done nothing for the poor after the initial ten years of their rule.

Now they are getting a thrashing from the common people for their misdeeds.
If they can't create a rift between congress and TMC ,in 2011, they will surely be routed.

This exercise is called democracy. It is much better than the kind of public administration systems we had before, viz totalitarian monarchies.

Friend, but the winner is decided by the number of votes polled irrespective of the number of parties they might have. If this is so, then Vajpayee in 1997 and 1998 was not a winner as he had 25 parties under his fold and the Congress had just 6 and still the Congress polled more votes than the BJP. What you have got to say about that ??

Jayaprakash Balan
CPM deserved to be defeated for once in West Bengal
by Jayaprakash Balan on Nov 10, 2009 05:37 PM

Its not a suprise to know that the Left faced a humiliating defeat in West Bengal after such a long time. The arrogance of leadership and the latest gimmicks in which the top cadres of Communist Parties were involved in plus the so much controversies raked by their respective Govts in West Bengal and Kerala has set their downfall. It would not be time before we see the diminishing of Left Parties because they are not at all flexible nor aligning with the situation of India only leaning highly on China's legacy and the outbased learnings of Stalin and Marx. One should understand that today nobody wants talks and ideology. Everybody wants to grow and earn money and have all luxuries of life.
