Sivaji is undoubedly a national leader
by mallaiah anchoori on May 31, 2009 07:25 PM

The BJP leader should know that "Siva Sena",a political party of Maharashra always truies to shot from the arms of the great patriot "Sivaji" whose name it adopted to exploit the sentiments of Maharashtrians. How can he forget that their party has truck with such a party which tries to encash the name of Sivaji. Rightly, Sivaji does not belong to any community, but to the entire nation on account of his sterling qualities of patriotism and valiance exhibited in the wake of attacks y rulers of other religion

It all depends on what are your priorities, decision should be based on what is more important and urgently required, spending Rs. 300 Crores for a magnificent statue of Shivaji Mahraj or spending for Rs.300 Crores to provide jobs and homes for the poor Marathas or give this money to the helpless and poverty stricken Maratha farmers in the Vidarbha region who are committing suicides, leaving behind widows and small orphaned children

by Ramesh Anand on May 30, 2009 09:05 PM  | Hide replies

We Indians are ashamed of everything Indian,be it glorious part of our recebt ir ancient history, our ancestors, our religious philosophy and thoughts, our temples, festival etc. Some of us are ashamed of our mother tongues that we try to speak English at home to look as if we belong to Royal White Ruling Class.Even now th 'Indians' do not want Shiva ji Maharaj statue or Ram Mandir .Whenever you think of such things which can make you proud,Indians say why not spend this money on employment, etc etc etc. Brave pseudo-Indians

Fools, glory of India is in remebering and taking inspiration from people like Shaivaji etc. Having a statue is betetr than throwing money to 300 families who will eat it and sit again for next alm. No free distribution of amy thing. Let every one earn it then only they will feel importance of money. Pride of Country and race is not some thing to compromise.
Feel proud of things worth seeing.

Humble request to MMS Pls do not divide nation further
by Lopesh S on May 30, 2009 04:40 PM  | Hide replies

On religion language north-south basis
Latest in the series of controversies centred on the Congress party’s fixation with Muslim grievances is the data collection exercise involving the Indian Armed Forces.
It is irrelevant and mischievous to mention about caste-based divisions in the Army during the British rule.
Congress leaders not only divided the country politically but also militarily. The military officers and men of pre-independence India , belonging to all communities fought the WWII together under the British.

Pakistan got a ready-made army at its birth. When Indian Muslims got Pakistan they also got a Muslim army carved out of the undivided Indian Army. This army produced Pakistani generals and officers who fought wars with India — the first full scale war being in 1965. This is history in living memory.

The Congress party having divided and ruled the country for decades is continuing with its dangerous game and monstrous thinking of doing a head count for the Army now.

Nitin Gadkari should have said
by Cutlet Gravy on May 30, 2009 04:22 PM

Nitin Gadkari should have said that since he cannot park his skoda in Mumbai there should be no controversy raging about where to build a giant memorial of the Maratha king, Shivaji.

I second his (loose) motion, so long it is downloaded or parked in such a way that it is seen as usrping a car park space at juhu chowpatty.

Since it is now clearly stated that the great warrior does not belong to any specific community (specifically the koli community of juhu) it will be better if he vacates our car park and goes inland by a few kilometres (say closer to nagpur) rather than becomes a squatter on the public beach.
