It is sad that innocent people also have to suffer like this. But a few fanatics are bent upon bringing hell down to earth in order to get themselves to heaven. US has succeeded to a good extend in protecting its citizens thru such measures.
There are 100s of languages all over the world and 1000s of film actors all over the world . It is very difficult to remember all of them . The Air port security is just doing their duty with standard line. We should appreciate!!!

No Way. they should have kissed his back side and let him go cos he is a great mallu superstar. Simbly fendastic.
While it Is unforturnate that Mr.Mammootty was taken into interrogation over his name please know that this is a necessary evil. Ad long as he wasn't humiliated or physically abused and the questioning was in line with standard procedures I will still give the benefit of the doubt to the authorities. They had a standard alert for people with a partiular name and they did their jobs without going into the "janta hai main kaun hoon-sorry saheb, galti ho gayi" routine. I'd rather be safe and check throughly than go about preening for niceties. Kamal hassan also had to go through the same procedure a few years ago, a name like that and he had a long flowing beard at the time also did not help matters. These are things that happen in life, take it with a pinch of salt, this should not be sensationalized into a scandal where it almost sounds like India's pride has been assaulted. So relax

No motives should be attributed to immigration at JFK. These guys have successfully STRIP-SEARCHED George Fernandez while he was on an official visit to U.S.A. as Defence Minister of Union Of India.

Am glad there is one country where "Mere baap ko nahi jaanta" won't work. Good. If you don't like it, don't go. They have a reason to be paranoid as US tops the hitlist of !slam!c terrorists.

Mr. Nair, pls dont be a frog in the well. if u expect mamooty to be well known in the US just because he is a famous actor from a small little state in india u must be a real dud.

It is not ignorance of the America, it is called border security and rightfully so. Had it been India he woulfd have been let in just on =his film connections and could have been another bomber.

It has nothing to do with ignorance. How the hell are US immigration authorities to know how great a "Super-star" Mammooty is in "South India". Let the US do their jobs and check for all un-necessary immigration.

Its process taking precedence over connections. Why should an American immigration officer care who manmooty is. His job is to make sure no terrorists sneak in and he did exactly what the system expected him to do.

That is the reason why less blasts occur in US, compared to India and ppl like Kasab walk freely in India. I am totally in for profiling people and everyone suspicious should be questioned. Doesnt matter it is Mammukka or Modi.

Vijay you are wrong not less but blasts does not occur in america.
this is simply vigilance on part of USA officials. If one is innocent, there is nothing to worry about. This is the reason USA is safe, can we say the same about Indian immigration officers?

NO WE CAN'T .If the indians came to know he is an actor they will start licking his boots instead of carrying out security checks
do you remember australia once stripped some indian minister and somnath chatterji who was the speaker then refused to go to australia on the grounds that he does not want to be bodysearched? may be he does not wear a chaddi or his chaddi is red as he is communist and red color may send wrong signals to australians.

It was US and the minister was George Fernandes. He was strip searched as they still had a notice on him. He was a commie, remember.

How insensitive a comment - my friend! How would you like to be treated like this for something you have done nothing about -terrorism in this case. You may have to come back to forums like this and cry aloud.

A state where fundamentalists reign supreme. A state where leftists workers wipe out any opposition with impunity as the larger majority remain mute spectators. A district which has the history of the maximum number of riots annually. Want me to list more ? I can go on and on...
