Outrageous
by Jagdish Rapata on Feb 21, 2009 10:09 AM

For God's sake, this article is outrageous. Its totally written from the chinese point-of-view. What does the author mean by "India can keep Arunachal Pradesh" Isn't it a territory of India officially recognised all over the globe?

In this whole world if there's some one we should not trust at all, its the chinese, just look at the past and learn!!

Different paths!
by shiva on Feb 21, 2009 09:40 AM  | Hide replies

We all have traversed different routes. Though we carry own history behind us that creates our mind-set, we all are tied together in a common bond. We cannot afford to go beyond a limit.

China is top-down & does not tolerate dissent. We are the opposite. We go by democrazy. The aam aadmi has to survive by own wits everyday. China is brutal in its approach behind the silken exterior of their leaders. For us, it is confusion, chaos & the same leaders seem to rule forever! China has changed course in that respect, with younger ones helming them. Though still swearing by communism & socialism, Mao era is a distant memory.

China is basking in glory that their system is taking a march over US's all-out capitalism. But they both have mutual respect & fear! Where do we stand? Most like to believe we are on par with China. But on general development during the last thirty years, China is streets ahead! They are on par or better than others in hosting Olympics & other gala events which we admire in TVs.

Let us look after our back-sides first. China can look after themselves better! We are faced with a brutal & hostile neighbour whose reason for survival seems to be enmity against us. China has resolved all international issues like Hingkong, Taiwan & seems to be chums with Japan, Korea, Russia & our neighbours! No wonder US knows, no more a unipolar world but have to take China views into account! Are they two not fighting to save capitalism!

Let us worry more!

Good point. But belive it or not, this media's lack of intelligence or shall I say immaturity is actually helping us. Come here in US and you will find Mr. Obama talking about gloom and doom everyday, not to mention the whole so called "mature media". End result ? really gloom and doom. Even bill clinton is pissed and asking obama to talk different. In India, media's focus and talking about gloom and doom elsewhere will actually pay off keeping all of us in a depressed mentality at least.

China is a strange success
by CHANDRA KORADA on Feb 20, 2009 11:43 PM

China's growth and economic success is a strange mixed basket of equally strange happenings. It is a strange blend of dictorial-socialism, extreme-exploitism of the rural poor, sweatshops strewn around the country, an economic system off line from the known Economic Theory, capabilities to compete with the best, costs at mind boggling lows, impervious to the rest of the world, human freedoms which are unworthy to human dignity, trade balances capable of creating situations which can sink China or US, Yuan exchange rate fist controlled to unrealistical levels, a political system which believes that countries like Pak, Cambodia(under Khmer Rouge regime), North Vietnam, North Korea should recieve its largesse & support etc. China's success story is unfortunately envously accepted by the users of its services and goods.

Red Giant Stars !!!
by Sam on Feb 20, 2009 09:49 PM  | Hide replies

As an avid reader in astronomy, I have always been fascinated with red giant stars and their lives and deaths. I have been less resistant in digging up unintended analogy of these giant stars with USSR, US and China. Surely, they emerged new giants after WWII (previous ones being UK, France, Germany, Japan), and rightly dominated the second half of the last century. But they emerged so fast and furiously, that their own consumption of Hydrogen is threatening their existence. Well, it doesn't mean they will be meeting their death, but one can not ignore the fact that at least one red giant (USSR) did collapse. And so did UK, France, Germany and Japan...well they are living their dwarf star lives now !! Now the heat is on US and China, and it seems both are trying to consume more hydrogen everyday to save themselves..one with 1.8 Trillion dollars and the other with 600 billion dollars. it will be interesting to see where we end up in the universe where, red giants again become dwarf stars and modest suns like ours (such as India, Brazil) can dominate the quite space of a galaxy !!! Have peace everyone.
