Obama's being pragmatic - his priorities are to get the US economy back up, and end the war in Afghanistan within his first term, the next 4 years. He'll be given one more term only if he succeeds; if he fails esp on the first item, then he'll bite the dust badly for raising too many expectations in people. Once these priorities are taken care, he can in his 2nd term go on to being a world statesman on the middle east muddle, kashmir muddle, etc etc, just as Clinton and Bush Jr did. Until then, India and her interests are on page 2.
i agree that he should visit soon. We should show him the other side of India which the slumdog westerners dont want to see -our beautiful IT campuses, space ships, and cricket stadiums...

Great. And after that display - all US aid will stop. After all India is now a developed country. Why give aid for developing it anymore. Do you have any idea what suburban/ rural india is ? Do you have any idea how the farmers exist ? Do you have idea how real Slumdoggy has been as a wakeup call for the powers that be - gloating in the IIT/IIM propaganda ? Boy, take a trip down to the Amravati region of Vidarbh if you are in Bombay and see what the real India is. You will stop gloating here after that trip.

hi amitabh.... unless the attitude of the politicians and public change drastically, no foreign aid, world bank aid can change the living condition of the mass who live in rural areas.... instead of showing to the whole world how rich or how poor we are , we the Indians need to know ourself where we are after more than 60 years of Independence......
i agree that he should visit soon. We should show him the other side of India which the slumdog westerners dont want to see -our beautiful IT campuses, space ships, and cricket stadiums...

Yeah and Indian PM should bothering about India and travel immediately to Nigeria to solve its problems and understand Nigerian culture and strengthen biliateral relations with them.
Kuch bhi haaaan...... Obama has his own country to look after. India doesn't matter in the real scheme of things and is a pwn in the hands of US.We jump when they say jump. Its as simple as that. So please stop believing that we are some important nation that has already taken it s place in the sun.

India Pakistan Afghanistan and US are all linked. India and Nigeria are not linked. That does not mean Obama should visit India though
Why Obama, why not Osama Bin Ladin to visit india, because nobody will get safe passage carrying out filty activities in India. Our government is ready to give them safe passage. No Terrorist have better place than India. Instead of Obama, it is good idea to think about inviting Osama Bin Ladin. At least something we can achieve either full terrorism or full peace. Wedont need any american, uk, france, china. This country is only taking advantage by selling weapons at good price with cheap quality material. We can have a good deal with Osama Bin Ladin at least he will give good quality Ak47, Ak57, even if possible Ak 67,77,107. Our government isreally a fool. Nothing going to improve unless Osama Bin Ladin visits. Pakistan will also bend their tail. Hope it is a good thinking

why not meeting RSS/VHP/BD/BJP/SS communal leaders who are forefront of India's communal progress?

What communal you are taking is : because of RSS/VHP/BD/BJP/SS existance. India is Still there.
Other wise it will splite into pieces. Any Hindu organisations are Communal what about IUML/IM etc.
Are they not communal in your list? Secular means in indain poliics: Anti Hindu. Communal means : peace.

Nothing will change. USA does not wish for a strong India. USA would want want India to remain weak in its own selfish interest. India should not trust either Obama or Hillary or anyone else. USA has always been aloof with India and will remain so in the future. India should be like China and learn to be self reliant.

CHina is not self-reliancet you fool, China is fully dependent on a globalized world. Self-reliance except in agriculture and defence is an outmoded concept.

The same thing could have been said without abusing him sir. Did you really have to call him a fool for stating his point of view ? Or is this the kind of upbringing you have had sir ?

For India to be strong requires at least one statesman to lead the country. Where will find him? At present all that we have are rapists and murderers, black-marketeers and thugs, religious fanatics and jokers doubling as political leaders. Pity my country !!

there are enough statesman in our country.... after all we should ask ourself before pointing our fingers.... 1. are we voting in every election ? 2. are we sincerely obeying trafic rules ? 3. do we follow basic tax rules 4. do we wait in ques to pay bills or do we bribe the peon to get it done quick ???
With Obama & Democrats- Indians are in for some frustrating long haul. Obama Admin has placed Afganistan & Taleban on priority No 1- Damn indian concerns of Pakistan as Epi centre of terrorisam. Holbroke & Obama & Clinton all want Pakis to focus on Afgan borders- nevermind any number Mumbai Attacks- they are for Obama & co is concerned; internal Jihadis work NOT pakis or not from Paki terriotory. Remember Pakis are as good a Democratic country after Zardari coming in & NO more a failed state...as far as Obama Clinton are concerned. Boy- Indians are back to Nixon era- clock full round back. The next Indian Government who ever it after elections must assert with USA- even twist there arm on this Terrorisam thing & remind them of Mubai Attacks, of Pakis role & their ISI & yes tell them many American were killed too. If Obama loses India - the only better democracy than USA in this world, then he will pull us back to cold war Nixon era- but the loss is to USA & not India. Ibrahim Obamaji- Are U listening. And for `friends' of India like Hillary & Madam Clinton, your love for India stops short of election donations from rich US based Indians & enjoying best curry in choice NY restraunts. Good bye Clintons Take care
I fully I agree with the views expressed in this despatch. There can not be more approprite Time for President OBAMA to visit India then now as Indian public is most concerned and angree with what happened in MUMBAI on 26/11 and what is happening in Talibanistan. If US miss the opportunity now there may not be such opportunity to reassure Indian public mindset for a long time and they would carry a negative image of present US adminstration.

Ha ha ha - you are saying so as if India is the No.1 country in the world and US is dependent on it for survival. What do you mean its time for Obama to visit India and worry about Mumbai. He's got a country to handle, he has other priorities for his country. And here we are living a fool's dream behaving as if Obama's first priority is India. Get a life boy. Get real. There does exist a world beyond India.
