Kumari Mayawati was born in Delhi. Her father Prabhu Das was a clerk in the telecommunications department in Delhi. Her mother is Ram Rati. She graduated from Kalindi College in Delhi and holds a Bachelor of Law degree.She also holds a Bachelor of Education degree and was a teacher in Delhi (Inderpuri JJ Colony) until joining full time politics in 1984. At one point she also studied for the Indian Administrative Service examinations. However, after meeting Kanshi Ram in 1977, she gradually came under his patronage, and was part of his core team when he founded the BSP in 1984.
She has been the Chief Minister on three other short-lived tenures but her party holds the absolute majority in the state on this occasion. She is the highest income tax payer among all politicians in India paying 26 crore rupees for year 2007-08. HOW??

If we can accommodate the party which spearheaded the 'sale of India' there is no harm in trying Mayavathi for a term. After all she is a qualified and experienced teacher. (Thanks nitesh for the information) How many such politicians are there with such qualifications?

1 million people in india appear for IAS but less than 1% qualify and mayawati is among 99%.. but she achieved more by becoming Mistress of Tharki Kanshi Ram...
what is all this time waste taking place in the country. even after more than two years of announcement of the project, till date no stone has moved. Its for sure that all these are political games and no party is truly intrested in developement of india. all is the game of vote bank and either of two parties are just jucing the public.
Leaders like Mayawati are a curse and shame on people this country. The way she talks and the language she speaks is highly deplorable. She thinks she is above everyone and fools the uneducated people of the state. In the process she has amassed wealth and is emptying the coffers of the state. Her priorities is self and in the process of realizing her ambitions she is being helped by the left and at times by right. What a pity and shame this leader has brought to all of us... God save India...feed its hungry, educate the illitrates... bring up the poor and send mayawati to hell...

Mayawati may be a lousy leader but she represents the people who have the numbers. It is an identity thing - she is one of them. And she is prepared to give it back as good, or as bad, they have got for hundreds of years. So bhai log - get ready. She is going to be the PM. You and I may not like it, but democracy does. It is all a part of the maturing of the Indian democracy. India has to go through all these experiments - the right-wingers(BJP)came disappointed, Mayawati will come, and no doubt disappoint, 'coz she is hardly a good leader. Finally when 'identity' politics will fail to deliver, real, developmental politics will gain ground. It is only then that true leaders, who think not in terms of Hindu-Muslim-Christians or high-caste-low caste or Maharashtrians-Biharis or north indians-south indians but of India and all Indians will get the support of the majority of Indians. Right now is too early. Right now we haven't learnt our lessons. Right now we don't know that those who don't have the capability to think and care about every human being can't think and care about ANY human being (even their own caste, creed, religion). They can only think and care about themselves. When we have learnt that lesson, we will elect true leaders. It is too early for India - this forum is living proof. Jai Hind.
