Supid election campaign
by Pulsar on Mar 05, 2008 12:38 PM  | Hide replies

The US election campaign is ridiculously long. Jan-Nov, there will be primaries and main election campaign. Before Jan there will be a six month pre-primary build up. It is a frustratingly long campaign. There is lot of money wasted in these silly campaigns in the name of democracy. Isn't it sufficient to have just a two to three month overall campaign?

In the main US presidential elections, if a candidate wins the popular vote, he/she gets all the electoral college votes from that state, rather than dividing the electoral college votes proportionately. Which means that the votes of those who voted for the other candidate are completely disregarded. Anyway, standing in an election requires money money money and more money. This brings in lobbying and special interests. So the newly elected President ends up being indebted to these lobbyist groups anyway. Overall, the US system is an screwed up system masquerading as democracy.

Isn't that the same way our votes are measured in India too? The majority votes get accounted for, the loser's voters are an ignored lot. So what are you complaining about?

Obama in white house would be the worst thing for India. He is all talk no substance or sense. Not only he would be a disaster for US but for the whole world in such testing times (Financial Crisis). Wish the democrats of US show some sense.

jha i think you are sadly mistaken.you don't know the inherent power of the indian.if this country rises, it can create a hundred americas & europes, just like that.you dont know your own potential, ie, if you are an indian.so next time you look at an indian, walking on the street, think again, this guy can do a lot, only he has to wake up. anyway time & again he has been screwed by the foriegners, & has forgotten his true powers.look at him with respect, but see to it he keeps his manners.

Everytme anything happens, we have a habbit of blaming the west. I think if we are true Indians, we not only wake up but also do something about the incompetant politicians and administrators who are the REAL stumbling blocks in India shining story.

taht is the case with any good human being, not necessarily only indians within a boundary.
For example if people follow blindly Rajathackarays and karunandihis they will be much worse than people of any other country.

Tale Bengaluru and Hyderabad airports. Voice out
by joseph s on Mar 05, 2008 11:31 AM

Hey guys,
just look at this rough statistics

UDF they're charging is about 1000 rs per passenger.
Lets say the average for domestic and international passenger is Rs 750
Estimated passenger capacity - 11 million per yr
And it can go upto 40 million per year.
Income through UDF.

11 million passengers is Rs 825 crores.
20 million passengers is Rs 1500 crores.
30 million passenger is Rs 2250 crores.
40 million passengers is Rs 3000 crores.

The bengaluru airport was built at a cost of 2400 crores(around that figure).
So if the airport is operating at full capacity. GMR and co will be building 1 world class airport per year for free.

Wake up guys, what is this? such a exorbidant price. currently two airports are running at such costs. thats 2000 crores of profit from these two airports.

Then why do we pay about Rs 3500 collected as airport tax for return journeys( this figure is for international flights), not sure about domestic.

This is open looting. My friends please voice out

Who cares about USA?
by Vijay urf Teesmar Singh on Mar 05, 2008 11:26 AM  | Hide replies

Why should be bother who becomes President of USA or any other useless country? We should bother only about haveing a good government in India itself. If we are good and powerful, all will be friendly with us and if we are weak then all will suppress us.
So, guys, let there be anything, we should not worry. Otherwise the old proverb goes as "Begaani Shaadi mein Abdullah Deewana"

Are you think so?
India's economy is very much depend upon "USA".
India's Maximum profit in IT come from outsourcing. If it's stopped, then It market will'be slower than before. Are you want this kind of situation?

America also depends upon us and reverse is also true. You can not neglect other contries.

No one says India is a force to be reckoned with. It's just that the sheer size of our economy will make us important. More jobs also means more well-off and educated people.

Interesting how you construct a straw man and take pride in demolishing it.

btw, even if anyone were to 'care' about India, 'bollywood' is not something that first comes to the mind...

We are surely making good progress in recent years and have been looked upon as a good investment option and also recognized for our service industry especially the IT and BPO sectors. Besides this the exports from our country are at an all time high. Who says the West does not recognize Bollywood. SRK is as big a start in the UK, Russia and other European countries as in India.
