If the government had to change policies of arms control, if they had to allow for formation of armed groups for self defense, then perhaps the writer of article should also try to analyze what the human and material cost of not supporting salwa judum would have been.
It is very popular among media to come to protection of human rights of those who themselves don't honor human rights of their victims! It does not mean that situation should have 'tit for tat' rule prevailing, but that is where the road ends.
If the government finds that protecting citizens is incurring costs; human,material and futuristic; that are prohibitive and detrimental to established order, it requires desperate measures.
At the heart of matter is the fact that naxalites brought situation to level of "jungle rule". They are the ones who responded with violence against following law. They sought to extend their writ by force rather than support. They used violence to destroy democratic setup. Is it not common among them to kill people they believe to be supporter of government? As the government found itself unable to ensure safety of people, it had to resort to support an anti-moment which can counter the menace started by naxalites.
And like other conflicts, this will also have material and human costs, but the greater blame for situation still lies with naxalites and supporters of democracy are paying for naxalites' misdeeds...

Well said. and very honest.. The so called champions actually only use the bogey of Human rights when naxals or other anti-national and criminal elements are brought to book.
They never shed any of their crocodile tears for the people whom these anti-nationals vitimised in the first place. As though they weren't humans and never had any rights themselves.
