You are right. Those who remember the plight of the relatives of the passengers of the hijacked plane will not find fault with the Govt action. Btw I am not a supporter of BJP and still I am not clear why the tyre of the plane was not de-flated before taking off from Amritsar.

Lets Clear Some Points
by Barnomoy Saha on Feb 05, 2008 03:33 PM  | Hide replies

Guys lets take a stand on the following:

1. Why does Shariat Law exist in parallel to our Constitution? Is this not an insult to our democracy? The Shariat and AIMPLB alongwith Wakf take their decisions unilaterally. Why so?

2. The so called "secular" people say that Muslims are undereducated, and thus these occurances. If that is so, why dont they send their children to proper schools? Why do they want and force them to study in Madrasas, when only religious thoughts are preached?

3. Why does a non-Muslim guy marrying a Muslim girl have to change his name and releigion to Islam? Isint this autocracy? On the other hand, a non Muslim girl also has to change her name to be able to marry a Muslim boy.

4. Why on earth are nearly all violence reported from around the world somehow associated with people who are followers of Islam?

5. If Islam is a very tolerant religion, why do eminent Imams and Maulanas preach that every Muslim should try and make other religions' people to convert?

answer these

Treasurer Peter Costello, seen as heir apparent to Howard, hinted that some radical clerics could be asked to leave the country if they did not accept that Australia was a secular state, and its laws were made by parliament.
"If those are not your values, if you want a country which has Shariat law or a theocratic state, then Australia is not for you", he said on National Television "I'd be saying to clerics who are teaching that there are two laws governing people in Australia : one the Australian law and another Islamic law that is false. If you can't agree with parliamentary law, independent courts, democracy, and would prefer Shariat law and have the opportunity to go to another country, which practices it, perhaps, then, that's a better option", Costello said. Asked whether he meant radical clerics would be forced to leave, he said those with dual citizenship could possibly be asked to move to the other country.
Education Minister Brendan Nelson later told reporters that Muslims who did not want to accept local values should clear off. "Basically people who don't want to be Australians, and who don't want, to live by Australian values and understand them, well then, they can basically clear off", he said.
To identify antiIndians, enforce UNIFORM CIVIL CODE, period.

If uniform Civil code will be implemented ever one will have problem in social life

Example: In Noth India, Hindus can not marry his sister' doughter
but in South India that is prferable.
In Indian Civil code which one will be take????????

Islamic sharia is for social life, Muslim follow Indian rule as it is, We follow sharia among muslims, which do not harm other religion

UCC is not about who can marry whom. But if every marriage has to be compulsorily registered with the govt. as decreed by Supreme Court, no Maulvi can contradict it quoting Sharia law. Sharia law may say no bank interest, harsh punishment for crimes but it cannot supersede our country's laws.

Then why don't you implement Sharia for criminals also? Why not amputation of hands for those stealing, stoning to death for bad woman, etc?????

The Koran says "Those who marry unbelievers will burn in the Fire. 2:221...........so a Muslim can marry only a Muslim woman or one converted to Islam!

Mr. JGN
A simple thing is there. Quran says, its haram to have wine, but some muslim drink. Isn't it???? that means they are not following the Quran. When they start following the Quran & become the true muslims then peace will be there allover Inshallah!

I am not a Islamic scholar, so that I can answer your all quostion but regarding marriage answer is below
Ans. In Islam you can not marry a other religion girl or boy whatever the case. These thing inter religion marriage are love marriage. Who convince whom to convert, that matters. Most of the cases Muslim girls or boys are able to convince others. But some exceptions are there like Ajit Agrakar married to a Muslim and Hritik Roshan also married to Muslim.

The real solution to all these fake arrests
by Vishvaksenah E on Feb 05, 2008 03:28 PM

As we're the children of a country given to us by Bapuji; we are duty bound to follow his ideals.

What did Bapuji teach us?
Violence is not the solution.
The only ever lasting solution is non-violence.
Hence let us follow this golden rule.
Is it certain that these three gentlemen indulged in helping the hijacking.
It must have been the handiwork of some organisations based in Nagpur.

Or even if they are found to be guilty, we have to follow Gandhian ideals.
Let the secular government led by super secular Dr.Manmohan Singh release Abdul Latif, Dalip Kumar and Yusuf Nepali.
Treat them with respect.Shower them with love and affection.
They are very learned men.Give them a daily stipend of Rs.10,000 or more. Give them a simple home to live in.The houses can be in Connaught place or Malabar Hill.
Make them the Governors of some states.
By this action they will be won over.
This is how our Bapuji would have wanted.
Let us follow this approach.
We're the inheritors of Gandhian legacy.

Long live secularism!
Long live Gandhigiri!

Science and god
by JGN on Feb 05, 2008 03:21 PM

Our scientists can see stars that have been dead for a billion years; they can document microscopic bacteria that concluded their brief lives on earth eons ago. But of God we have no trace, except for the testimony of scribes writing of events neither they nor those around them ever witnessed - and the faith of millions of people who have managed to convince themselves that he lives and reigns somewhere in the sky - Steven Chapman

World's great evils
by JGN on Feb 05, 2008 03:19 PM

It is fashionable to wax apocalyptic about the threat to humanity posed by the AIDS virus, "mad cow" disease, and many others, but I think a case can be made that faith is one of the world's great evils, comparable to the smallpox virus but harder to eradicate - Richard Dawkins

what could have Indira Gandhi done ?
by VENURAJA Bowenpalle on Feb 05, 2008 02:57 PM  | Hide replies

When a plane was hijacked during Indira Gandhi's time by some Sikh youth of punjab she ordered an IAF fighter plane to dove tail the hijacked plane putting terrorists under great pressure to accept the negotiations.
When Kandahar hijacked plane landed in Amritsar , the BJP had no guts to take any decision at all. No fighter plane followed. There was ample time to land black cats to land in Amritsar as long as the hijacked plane from Nepal to reach Amritsar. In fact the plane flew over Lucknow , tried to cross the indian border to Pakistan but Pakistan refused any landing so it started flying back to Amritsar. Pilot was informing and he indicated a sharp shooter to shoot the tires of the plane as it was landing. His request was not followed and no reason was given.
All the while Mr.Advani discusses with officials but would not take any decsion !! . And there was a deliberate delay at Amritsar in fuelling the plane which also provided ample time. Still no action was taken. Black cat commendos could have been easily flown to Amritsar airport and to be ready there for suprise attack. Indeed the BJP govt. gave an unbelievable explanation that NSG commendos were stuck up in a traffice jam at a junction in Amritsar city!! The whole police force would swing in to action if Advani or any VIP goes through city traffic at terrific speed along with a big cavalcade of vehicles and there would be no traffic jam . But to protect the lives 185 passengers aboard the plane , commendos would

Excellent points. But please note that the days of leaders like Indira Gandhi (despite her power mania) and Margaret Thatcher are gone. These so called leaders who ruled India during the Khandahar hijacking existed in the days of Indira Gandhi and were nothing compared to her. So please do not expect these people or her much famed daughter in law to act anywhere like she did.

Excellent point. Yes, these same BJP politicians were also there while Indira Gnadhi was ruling the country. There were nothing before her charisma, and her decision making powers.
And, Yes BJP got only two seats, two MP seats I mean , during her time.

by Ritesh on Feb 05, 2008 02:42 PM

Stop bickering among ourselves. If one is here for cheap fun by posting language of hate against a religion or race than they need to be condemned severly.

Point is there are loop holes in the system and terrorist can take advantage of these lacunaes against india. Fake ID proofs are cheaply available. Authorities who are responsible for checking menace should be severly punished. PPl who have helped terrorist should straightaway be given death penalty (with right to appeal)- religion no bar.

We should not look at these ppl through prism of religion. They should be dealt with no mercy or impunity.
