Tiger is at the top of eco-system. it's extinction will accelerate the decay of the planet earth. Have you ever seen the big cat walking down the woods? you can not imagine the beauty unless you see it your self. Why can't law punish a human (who is not endangered) for killing an endangered specie.
With one tiger every day we will loose all the tigers soon and with it will go our national animal.
We Indians call it as vehicle of goddess durga, our forest dwellers call it Bagh Deo and many communities believe it is their ancestors. Although loosing her vehilce will be a problem but may be science will develop a modern vehicle for goddess durga and we will be happy for her again and till than how will she come on our calling, by walking???????????
With it we will loose the most charismatic creature on earth and certainly a very important link in our culture.
In our coutntry sadly more money is spent on unproductive activities rather thant to preserve our prestigious natural flora and fauna.Pathetic to say the least.
It shows what a callous country we are and it looks like in the future this country will have nothing left since its people would have ravaged the land . only a great doom awaits our future generations what with no forests , no rain , no agriuclture .starvation is the future for our country unless our population is drastically reduced by compulsory sterlisation.
I have spent almost 16 years of my life in North Bengal at a place called Jainti, which falls under Buxa Tiger Reserve. Tiger census was done by people who were not properly trained and motivated. Crude methods were followed, of taking a plaster cast of Pug marks. The Number of Tigers used to vary between 33 to 29 at every count in an area of 750 sq Km of reserve forest. Locals rarely saw Tigers, Grazing of cows in the forest was abundant and not a single Kill was reported. I personally heard a tiger roar twice and saw one adoloscent tiger once in 16 years. But the Forest department people used to see them pretty regularly!!!. Tourists who used to come reported not a single sighting and they were told that the Tigers were too shy to appear. last year I've heard that not a single tiger is there.
What a shame that our future generations will not be able to see this beautiful animal in our country. We ahve failedas apeople to take any suitable measures to ptotect this animal. One prays that the Government will do something. A non bailable offence/hard laws may be an answer.
