I live in little red zone in Orange county--seen almost everday cops are rounding off street kids/vandals. Even seen gun robbery. Mid-west and many places are extremely safe. But not city areas. Still it is better than India.
The land of the great American dream, land of opportunities, land of creations, land of all enterprises, land of wealth, land of future-minded people, land of melting pot, land of racial equality, land of free....America is revered by many. These catchy statements are actually nothing but organised hype and 'marketing campaign' to create illusions to cover up all the lies and weakness, to fool the world and Americans. The reality is that America is getting into all the very worst things that you could possibly imagine in your life time.
The present US leads the world in immorality, crime, divorce and material pleasures. A country, which is actually waiting for total economical, social and lifestyle disaster. The US is too engrossed in power obsession to ever have the will to revive and remain as a real country for its own citizens and for the sake of others. It won't be long before the US will have to face grim reality of the future.
Mother India is Poor I agree but her love and care is priceless. When are we Indians going to understand?

Come on, get a life. Everything immoral that happens in US also goes on in our Mother India also. Only difference is here it all hidden behind closed doors.
It is shocking and sad that two human lives have been taken away for may be greed My heart goes out for the surviving members of the famiy.May God give them courage to bear the loss.May I humbly request Indian community to extend all assistance to the families.I urge Indian Embassy to extend all consular help to the Shocked families.MAY THEM REST IN PEACE

1) Like you study for GMAT and SAT to go to US, learn a martial art such as Karate as well. 2) Even before selecting a College or University, search for crime statistics of the area, where you will be studying and living in the US. 3) There are several student blogs. Log in and post your questions and concerns about a particular college or University and the area where you may possibly live. I am sure someone will reply. 4) As soon as you arrive in the US, contact your local police station to know more about the crime statistics, blacklisted areas of the city and what type of crimes do normally happen. 5) After Gun crimes, Knife crime is on the rise in the US as knifes such as short samurai can be purchased easily! 6) Do not go to places, where your intuition says DO NOT GO THERE. 7) Don't go out before 6AM and after 7PM. If you do have to go, go with group of friends...Not alone for God's sake. 8) Armed Robbery using gun or knife is quite common anywhere in the US. So, do not carry more than $20-50. Use credit card as much as possible. When stolen, contact the credit card company ASAP. Do not give them a call after 24 hours! 9) Do not keep the room windows and doors open unless you need. Do not keep any belongings near the windows.
Keep yourself vigil of what is going on around you. Be alert.

well all the points you said are very helpful..but when time comes..you just can't avoid it..it don't matter you live in the least crime rate Univ...

Please refrain from using derogatory word like 'Negro'. Its just like calling a so called low caste in India as Shudr. Your words show your shallow knowledge about both Africa and US. I dont want to get into that argument. The crime is not proved yet. Even if its proved that African Americans are involved in this crime %u2013 what is your suggestion? Punish a whole race for the crime committed by a few mindless fools? Please be and write sensible.

BATON ROUGE %u2013 A task force comprising the LSU Police Department, the Baton Rouge Police Department, Louisiana State Police and the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office has been assembled to investigate the murders of LSU graduate students CHADRASEKHAR REDDY KOMMA, 31, and KIRAN KUMAR ALLAM, 33.
From this point forward all media updates relating to the criminal investigation will be issued by the undersigned on behalf of the Task Force.
We are attempting to identify and locate three young black males who were seen hurriendly leaving the vicinity of the apartment where the murders occurred last night. The men got into a small to mid-size four door car, possibly occupied by a fourth person (driver).
The car was seen leaving the complex with its headlights turned out and headed south on Governor Claiborne before turning its lights back on and turning right (west) on Aster.
