This is a tragic incident. One of the victim is newly married and his wife is pregnant and other victim said to have an infant. It is really hard to comprehend why it happened

That is because women will be scared to report in Saudi Arabia as Sharia courts are highly biased against them. Women are not allowed to drive vehicles in Saudi Arabia.

But as a man of science and common sense, you will agree that a man will find it hard to rape a woman since punishment is death for the rapist, no appeals or dillay delaying, something good come out of such strictness than in a country where rapists just get away.
Saudi arabia also has lowest burgularies and frauds in the world, for the same reason, STRICT DEATH PENALTY FOR SUCH CRIMES.
Not that I am advocating such in India, but stats are stats, and I am a hindu Indian.

I do not know what your source is. Howver, these are reported figures. Majority of crimes in India remain unreported. Police do not even write an FIR for many crimes.

I do not think that the statistics are right. For example, the site says that there were only 76 kidnappings in 1998-2000 period. This is obviously incorrect. Most of such crimes remain unreported.

Manish jee. I am not saying anything just showing STATS. Rest you know it all the realities if you have lived in India ever.
We need to compare two countries, and we have to look at STATS. this is the scientific methodology.
Of course in places like BIHAR UP and naxal areas, crimes will be underreported to the extent of 90% with even bodies being disposed off after murder, corrupt cops, corrupt judges, et al. NO lodging of complaints, jungle raaj. But at least in metros, i think crimes are reported and registered to the max.

Mr. Bhola, whatever you are saying is obvious and not hard to understand. Merely going by certified figures does not indicate that a particular county is safe. Even if India's reported figures indicate that India has much less crime, it in no manner mean that it is safer. Anyway, I know you would remain adamant. I think the "reported crimes" is a key thing here right... In lot of developing countries a lot of crime is not reported!
