Dear gentleman,
please brush up your english first. I really do not understand why you are against ICSE/ CBSE syllabus. I had done my education upto 10th standard in Government schools. Only difference is we had very dedicated and sincere teachers. My children are into both ICSE and state syllabus. I don't see any difference.

not the first
by qween on Dec 11, 2007 09:57 PM

it is not the first time such an incident has taken place. most male students in india have become like this and with time as their parents get richer they all would like to show
gun.
these things happen where, generally,
the father himself is a person who takes pride in his "aukaad" and there have been violences at their home.
also in this case the environment is to blame - that schools are nothing more than formality in one's life, all values and education comes by self, parents and tutions.

Being western and being civilised
by Vivekanand Venkataraman on Dec 11, 2007 09:55 PM  | Hide replies

I can see that many people are saying that it is beciause of the west that we are civislised..
this is not correct. our civilisation is much much older that any ones.
when anyone says about western habits, it cant date back to more that 200 years.
before that it was all those travellers coming to india and going back with Indian ideas.
yes. what you says is correct about habits etc.. it is all for good. but lets stick on to the good ones..and not get the wrong ones which is not necessary..
Barbarians : We have become more of barbarians with the western influence... people who earlier thought athithi devo bhavah.. say question the visitor as to why he didnt call up and come!

The traditions which were being followed before are of utmost importance and needs to be used going forward... even thouth these can be given a modern blend.

indeed we could have ended up like barbarians had british not come, infact had people like dayanand sraswati n vivekanand not come.
it is so because 250 years ago we were slaves , condition was very bad , people had lost values there were malpractices all over like child marriages, casteism and rich were only
found in brothels.
environment has gone down.
these students must not be knowing what students do in US. it is their brain that thinks like that.
it is the majority of people in india who tend to lose all their cultures and become bad, they forget their heritage like they forgot 'pie', and were keen to follow west like our first prime minister who took british citizenship...
and others are too ignorant to be fooled easily.
look at dav schools, heritage of maharshi dayanand saraswati , they too have gone down due the environment in indian society

Rape is NOT the fault of the woman. There is a moral and criminal function. To wear jeans does not cross any definition of morality, but to rape that woman does cross every definition of morality.

Stop being a "modernity" "western culture" basher. Look at history, what did women historically wear in India? Small bikini blouses and skirts (think temple art etc.)? Then we adopted "western" and "modern" values from the Muslims and Christians and decided that women have to be all covered (preferably in black) and locked up in the house along with the family jewels, and we also adopted the "western" and modern" culture of attacking women to attach people and their cultures.
And now somehow you are saying that is what you are? That is what is right? Come to your senses.

I have the right to say Manmohan singh is an idiot, I have the right to paint my house pink, I have the right to wear what I want. You do NOT have the right to shoot me for it because you disagree with it.

blame the parents
by Das Munshi on Dec 11, 2007 09:46 PM

There have been some posts below stating that once every one joins BJP/RSS all these problems will be solved. We all know for sure that Pramod Mahajan was a great leader in BJP/RSS and we have seen what happened in his family. See his son a drug addict and visiting all the bar, pubs and parties.. so joining parties dont solve the problem.. its the parents who have to solve the problem

You are right it takes place in US and Europe. Our indian children are accepted because they are exposed to satellite television and films where the frequent message is if you do not like someone then take revenge. This is a bad precedence and all the authorities all over the country must take immediate steps to stop such incidents. My condolonces to the family of Abhishek.
