i think it is time to end NASA. why do we want to physically go to space anyway? in our hindu culture, we were able to travel to far ends of universe by spirituality and meditation, why can't we just stick to that an stop this non-sense

In their responses, I see that a lot of individuals rave and rant about NRIs without sufficient information. There are many reasons for brilliant Indians leaving the country and working abroad. One must take the time to study the same before shooting off our mouth. India is a unique country that rewards mediocrity and punishes talent; that is why we have all kinds of reservations, especially for mediocrity to flourish, so that the knowledge community around us can be diluted. There are no proper research facilities for brilliant researchers in India and ignorant and vicious ministers like Arjun Singh couldn't care less; no suitable jobs for the level of talent these people have - do you want them to work as couriers and cable operators with the talent that they have? They may not be sending foreign exchange to the Government of India for development schemes directly, but they send foreign exchange to maintain their families and dependents here; indirectly it helps the Government by augmenting the country's reserves. In case those who criticise do not know, there are a number of examples where out of sheer love for the country, NRIs have come back to set up an industry to provide employment to people like some of the critics on this site, but have been greeted by the wall of licenses, redtape, corruption and the stonewalling bureaucracy that they decided to drop it all and go back to their adopted country. Let us create the opportunities and infrastructure for talent to flourish in India and then criticise them, instead of doing so just out of sheer spite. Just in case anybody gets the impression that I am an NRI let me confirm I am very much in India, but feel sorry that NRIS are being targetted for their successes. Why dont you target the politicians who have brought the country to this pass, so that Indians have to go out of India to make a success of their lives? Can you? Otherwise best to just envy them and keep quiet. Another Indian trait of targetting people who cannot hit back, but take all nonsense from those who can!

Good comment Vijay! Readers, just judge Arun Singh's performance for the last 3 years and you will know what his mission is : "TO reward mediocrity and punish talent". We have a minister for this mission, a government to support him and people's tax resources to take his useless mission forward.

Well said by vijairaghavan. here people who are in power give power to only people who are at good terms with them and not necessarily to people who deserve them. And this is all pervasive throughout the nation in virtually every institution.
This is one of the main reasons of an RI becoming an NRI. Its not always for money. Many a times, talented people want fame and recognition also.

One guy named "yhew" is posting some sentence who dont know what is exactly his name(S.O.B)....this guy may be just passed out from school and learnt to write some english and posting to the blog ABCD..hey you the "yhew" or whatever u are, dont u know that govt is sole responsible for the good or bad of the country? if govt dont take the responsibility who will take? I think you are from kerala or west bengal where the parents start teach the child after born, how to compromise in all field of life how to make yourself exploited and blame to the luck, how not to defend yourself in every quarter of life...thats why you people are backbencher in school and ruin the carrear doing politics in college life insted of study and finally u r jobless and envy to us who are having money...yes..we are NRI and us pays us money because we are the best among average indian...understand you freek?

Well said Mr.Vijai Raghavan and Mr. Sanjoy Chajraborthy. You are reflecting the real feeling of NRIs. If we have good govenance, no average Indian wish to go abroad leaving a great culture and family. Except few who are in a very comfortable position I have witnessed lot of Indians suffering in the oil & gas fiels of deserts and offshore just to uplift the family's economy. What is the harm in doing so? Why NRIs are cursed inspite of their hardwork and suffering in abroad?

Mr Yhew (are you of Chinese origin?) "Who is supposed to...." You dont even have the capacity to understand the problem, why should you make sweeping comments? Do you want the NRI to take over the Government and governance? That is exactly what I mentioned, when an NRI comes back and wants to 'light a candle" so that blind folk like you can see, he is met with a wall that refuses to let him in and ungrateful Indians want the NRI to cower and grovel before them for the wretched life that they can give him. Better change your mindset and improve your quality of life..or live a wretched life and dont pass it on to the others. Incidentally, I have already said I am not an NRI. Pl be well informed before making stinking comments.
