A realist
Mohan Guruswamy Needs Medication
by A realist on Nov 18, 2006 11:49 PM

We Indians live in fools paradise and Mohan G is no exception.. China can blow us to smithereens any day, its another thing that the country has better things to do.. which is the only subliminal point where I agree with Mohan G..
I love how the Indian armchair commentators like Mohan G use terms such as " in terms of geopolitics" ; this is the BANE of India's useless foreign policy or ...as I like to call it NO FOREIGN POLICY, instead of indulging in armchair commentary all these people should get their a@# moving and do something productive.. and for all those of you who get excited about the BRIC report and mention of India- China in the same sentence, remember this

1. The BRIC report is just a sales tool to sell emerging market instrument. There is a reason why those firms are called " sell side"

2. India- China is the biggest joke, they are eons ahead of us ,we can wallow in the glory of this democracy and free speech - but guess what free speech only breeds these idiotic conversations

Rosy picture

I think, Mohan Gurusamy is portraying a rosy picture. Obviously china is preparing for any sort of onslaught against India, whereas we are shaking hands that attacks us bloodily..it is true that we lack bold leaders.

China won't do another 1962

Despite troublesome and risky path, thousands of Indians visit Kailas and Manas Sarovar every year, which is considered as part of China.

India should lodge claim on Kailas Manas Sarovar
as it is part of Indian history and culture.

RE:''Are you trying to fool us''
by Vinay Chugh on Nov 27, 2006 02:04 AM
Hello !

The best yet the worst problem of most of the Indians is that we are afraid of anything that had harmed us inspite of attaining equal power.

Dear you know Indians are owning factories and manufacturing units in China and there count has reached 620 (approx)and how many chinese have there main stay business here? They are here to sell and Indians are manufacturing and selling in China as well as in India...see the difference and it has developed over 50 years and cant we even imagine that Indian Armed forces wont have taken a leap?

We beleive that like most of our politicians, our policy makers are foolish enough? When Indian Army can capture Kargil (Its one of the toughest war in history) why not Chinese attack?

Indians are entering China Directly, making inroads there and they are encircling us around using PAk and Bangla (ofcourse Nepal is a failure now , Maosits signing agreement), see the difference in Chinese faith in us. All this has happened in just 59 years of independence.

Ofcousre I know China is having one of the best armies in world but to make them move in todays world of nuclear arsenal, it is not easy. Be positive and think logically !!!

'China won't do another 1962'
by H Rajagopal on Nov 18, 2006 07:30 PM

We were knock kneed in 1962 to use the Indian Air Force to give a severe blow to the PLA then.
Now they have 300,000 combat troops along our boder.
Their clim to Arunachal is very loud and clear. Our Armed Foces may be prepared but the terrain along the southern face of Himalayas is against our strategy. We are only 10 years behind China in getting a Railway line to the Tibetan border.

With Pakistan and Bangladesh coming closer to China, and Bhutan will have no compulsion to be with India when it comes to that, we stand a dim chance to take on China.
China need not resort to any military venture to bring India to table to negiotiate on Arunachal Pradesh.
They have the plans and means to divert the rivers like Sutlej and Tsangpo( Brahmaputra). Nothing on earth can stop them as of now.
Without any bloodshed, the eastern states like Nagaland, Manipur and Arunachal could be separated from Indian Union as the locals have no love lost for the rulers in Delhi.
The only hope for India is to generate widespread awareness around the world on Tibetan Freedom and the evntual 'Free Tibet', a peaceful Tibet on our borders as it was prior to 1951.

Girish
not convincing
by Girish on Nov 18, 2006 04:18 PM

Nothing of what Mohan Guruswamy pitched for makes sense.
He conveniently ignores realities and knows very well that Indians are justifiably concerned about Chinese but he has failed to convince whatever he wanted to pitch for. China has to be dealt with caution in trade, territory and ideology and dealt now before its too late. We are not foolish to ignore immediate threats in anticipation of what might or might not happen 40 years later. The Chinese are conducting disturbing activities in our neighbourhood and also abetting disturbance inside our country.

Very Good points by Mr. Guruswamy

Hey All..

I read the full chat version, my dear fellow Indians, Mr. Guru is right, actually... people of China have very high regard for Indians, especially the IT wave have swept their mind, most of the Province(State) govt. visit India, invite Indian IT Companies and Tech people to China.

People are very friendly, they admire Indians and our culture, yes many have no idea of India, they think India means, eat in Hand, Dark, dancing, blah blah, so do we, Chinese means Short, Yellow, flat nose, Kung Fu, but in reality its totally different, India stands High on IT and Knowledge. China stands high on Infrastructure.

Its not INDIA vs CHINA, ITS INDIA & CHINA. We as responsible Citizen, lets articulate for the welfare of our Nation. Lets work togeather. As its said in US - IC(Int. Chips), referred as India China.

I dont know how many agree, but people who have been here and know will agree...

Regards/Suresh

Chinese threat
by saini15 on Nov 18, 2006 11:42 AM  | Hide replies

Dear Sir,
What you say is farce.
Even USA is afraid the strength of forces that China has today.
You think India should feel OK about it, especially when China has history of biting off our Aksai Chin area, Eating up Tibbet and now claiming Arunachal Pradesh.
I think, you too are suffering from Indian syndrome - of being blind to the obvious, the main topic that threatens us all and pretend that everything is OK.
Well its not.
Visit Wikipedia site to see Chinese army being the worlds largest, its air force being three times our size and its Navy superior to ours, it economy better then ours, its population being under control where as ours running out of control.
Its only a matter of few years where the clashing dominence and interest of two countries result in war.
Do we wish to be prepared for it, or be blind like Nehru did in 1962 thinking it can never happen to us.
lets wake up to reality, if china man can bribe pak against India, what stops him from weaving evil designs himself?

Cocos Island is an Australian territory, and has nothing to do with India, Burma or China.

Your arable land percentages are wrong. In reality, China has 15, not 11 % arable land and India has 49 %, not 89 % arable land. And the Chinese people are substantially non vegetarian compared to Indians, hence arable land is less important to them.
