Youth can change India.
by Manjinder Bedi on Aug 15, 2006 11:02 PM

I agree with Dr. Ambedkar - Every generation is a new nation. Easier said than done, I too have lot of hopes from new generation. More importantly we unitedly need to understand to be honest and respectful towards our country. Charity begins at home so the elderly people have to teach the younger generation to be honest, disciplined and restpectful. The respect has to be taught in terms of people not in terms of money. The leeson that needs to be taught is "to give" not "to take". Laws are to be respected and abide by. This is something elder people can teach to the youngsters.

Together we can and we will make a difference.

I agree with Mr Iyer
by Deepti Vig on Aug 15, 2006 10:08 PM

I agree with Mr Iyer.Nodoubt that our honerable PM is very honest but honesty is not the only thing that PM should have.He should be energetic, must have some leadership attitude, quality,he should be able to take his/her decision in favour of our country.

I want to share my views on this topic also "moneypower has touched even education in India"
Yes this is very true to say,for making our children educate is not easy now money is more important than education if you have enough money then only your child will get admission no matter how much he is intelligent but if you don't have money then sorry.
I think so that govt should take some action or should start something like scholarship or open some schools with no fees but it doesn't mean with bad faculty.. govt should pay nice amount of salary to teachers so that teachers can also spend a good life and if teachers will get good salary then definetly he will not change the job and he will stick with that govt school only, teachers should be provided with some govt quarters also.If govt will fulfill his needs then definitely he will be very devotee..and yeah school should be open in both villages and city with no fees.

responsible leadership
by b.p.ravi on Aug 15, 2006 08:18 PM

how to change the mindset of nation? there is disconnect between the individual and nation. majority of the population in india is unaware of the history. unfortunately India was never one in the past or at present. politically it appears as one. there is no binding or overriding national interest.few people have access to large percentage of wealth. political class and bureaucratic class do not have clear vision and committment of the nation. governments work on adhoc basis.organisations and institutions not work for the community but for survival of few people. it is amazing to come across lack of basic facilities like pure water, draingae, shelter and electricity in rural india.so many programmes in the name rural development just could not change the scenario.education is somewhat a distany dream, when you do not create basic living conditions? responsible and answerable leadership at all levels of government, society and polity is need of the hour. we have to do simple things right.if you want to construct a road, plan it for next 50-100 years taking in to account all possible scenarios.

Embracing the world-Great Bharath!
by Amruthavarshini on Aug 15, 2006 08:17 PM

Thank you very much Sir. Yes When Krishna Iyer speaks, not only Nation listen, but the Shakthi listens. Shakthi that is embeded in the genes of every grass that grows on the land where Lord Vrishabh was born to rule, where Jada Bharath was born.India is the anglo name. Bharath is the name that was given to the continent ruled by eldest son of King Vrishabh-an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. But the tragedy of Thapobhoomi Bharath is its history is neglected as myth! How many of us do know the meaning of Bharath? Yes, Bha means Infinite Light,Rath means chariot.Chariot to carry the infinite light that dispells the darkness of ignorance!Bha also mean Almighty God. Rath also mean in loving bondage. The soul which was in loving bondage with alighty God was Bhaarath on whose name our Nation stands today. We have to create new Indians, not the new India. If we rediscover our roots that is more than enough to make India Vishvaguru in this 21st Century. My efforts were & are constant to educate the Judicial Officers to rediscover the original glory of Mother India.Surely, India is going to be recognised as Great India-Maha Bharath by whole world, shortly. But,not sure whether Indians are prepared for it

My Views

Though Mr Iyer comes under the list of great personalities of India and he has seen the country developing since the days of Independence.

But I am sorry to say that Mr Iyer has shown us only the darker picture of the country.

As a youth of this country I didn't get motivated by his speech.

There is no end for development. Its better to see what we are now and what we were 50 Years back.

India is developing at a rapid speed.

And the point that there is unequall distribution of Income. Mr Iyer this is the fact all over the globe. You can't collect all the nations money and distribute equally among the nationals. Those who work will get more than the other. This is an unavoidable fact and can't be ignored.

With Regards to Mr.Iyer.

Eh?

I really wonder how this weirdo ever became "one of the finest Constitutional lawyers" (and well, Rediff, what exactly is meant by "Constitutional" lawyers?) in the country.

He thinks technology is meant only for the rich. Someone put wiretaps on his head and feed him the fact that, today, even vegetable vendors use mobile phones. Calling charges have come down to Re. 1. And bhaisaab was forced to conclude that technology is meant only for the rich. My foot!

"India cannot be changed by old men like me."

Certainly. And so, maybe they should keep quiet and spend the rest of their lives making merry, playing with kids, transferring wisdom to the newer generation, not crap like this.

youth are mis guided by the dirty politicians mostly
by pravinkumar on Aug 15, 2006 07:38 PM

12-3-1993 blasts were SHAMEFUL but we never learnt what we have to learn that if hindu & muslim unite then we will win the whole world but america and britan want us fight and beg to mercy so also saudi & pakistan want us to fight and die. 11-7-2006 blasts are result of intelligent brain used by terrorist in mumbai so all steps of life we have to fight terrorism & live alive & let our brothers muslims live alive as dreamt by mahatma gandhi. Barister M. A. Jina also wanted secular pakistan & died after he learnt that pakistan is run by fundamental muslims. We are not in position to bring the 1993, 2007 mumbai blast criminal to the court of law so we are left with to wait & wait one day justice will be done by god/allah/jesus who ever is there to save india will punish the terrorists and so the final justice. We are silent peace loving so we have to run away for saving life as hindus run to delhi from kashmir to save their lives.

ploitics is dirty game and spoils indian youth as you can see one example one young leader in konkan directly put revolver on the head of police inspector and asked him to run away. If young leader put such gangster type examples for their followers then why to teach non violence to poor innocent intelligent to die like RANG DE BASANTI MOVIE of AMIR KHAN. all leaders must check their own behaviour and take PRAYACHITYA then only there is hope for the quote `YOUTH CAN CHANGE INDIA' other wise young intelligent people will turn terrorist like shown in MOVIE FANAA by AMIR KHAN once again. It took 30 years for world trade center to get constructed but it took just 30 hours to get them ruined to ashes. So we as Hindustani or Indian what ever we think of ourself have to fight terrorism, facism (root cause of terrorism like in 1939 hitler in germani) and corruption (root cause of all problem in hindustan). So if we want to improve then we have to sacrifice a lot of our young blood for improving india. We lost indira gandhi in 1984 , her son rajiv gandhi in 1991 two were personally attacks after that the situation changed and we witnessed dirty 6-12-1992 riots & 12-3-1993 blasts SHAMEFUL.

Right - India cannot be changed by old men like me.
by Hkollar on Aug 15, 2006 06:17 PM

Socialistic Ideas of our intelligensia of formative years of our country, nearly ruined it. All the evils Mr. Iyer talks about were perpetuated during the years the socialistic ideology ruled.

It is true that constitution of India defined India as a socialistic country, but it is a matter of time before we drop that preamble.

We all know what Mr. Iyer says about India's poor to be true. But, what is equally true is the socialistic systems world over subjected their poor to far worser cruelty and millions perished. People doubted India's democratic credentials as long as it was socialistic, because democracy and socialism do not go hand in hand. It is only good on paper.
