Bidwai style of argument !!
by biz on Mar 16, 2005 11:14 PM

Dear rediff,
Bidwai which picks up a muslim lady and fight steriotyping. What is strange here is that, Bidwai has spent his life time in spewing venom against hindus and steriotyping them, but then is secularism strange to Bidwai !!!!!!!

this made sense upto a point,India def needs more muslims to come fwd n show tht thy r doing something, not only for themselves but also for the country. but far from being such a breezy article showing tht the muslim community is already a very developed n contributing community, sania's case should be made out as as eye opener for the millions of muslims and be a guide path esp for the girls.
also y bring bjp into this, thy just say what is really true, tht "most" muslims are backwards, a few names here n thr do not make the entire 120m community modern and full of achievers, bjp till now has been advocating equal rights for them & not banning them from the national scene, this makes sense as this is a secular democratic country. y should nybody be given reservations n special status? if sania can do without reservations, n grants frm the govt so can the others. mr bidwai, inadvertantly u just supported bjp's claim here.
all in all i hope this one name, n the others too would lead the muslims in India to adopt a dynamic modern outlook, n ultimately lead to the end of the ironlike stranglehold tht the mullahs have on them as well as of the pseudo secularists on India's politics.

Indianlover very well said...i do apprecaite with ppl that we should nto highlight religion ...The article by praful is pointing fingers at those who do love to slot muslims as backward illiterate people who are resistant to change......these kind of people need to interact with more progressive muslims to get rid of the stereotype...I have met a lot of them unfortunately...i do love my country and tonnes of beautiful ppl but despise those who form an opinion based on false propaganda and rhetorics ...likes of advani bal thackray etc....ppl like them wouldnot breathe easy unless episodes like gujarat happen often...Hope I am making sense...not trying to offend anybody ...

Why is the President missing?
by jm on Mar 03, 2005 12:08 PM

It's surprising that you have left out our President, who is a Muslim, but definiely more Indian than most Hindus can claim... Anyway, a wonderful article, more such works must be published to change the conservative attitudes on some people...
