National policy needed
by R Sriram on Jun 26, 2004 09:31 AM  | Hide replies

Whether BJP or Congress, one thing is clear neither the developed world nor the third world respect or fear Indians. I just wish that the Indian Government follow a policy like Mosad and eliminate all those who harm Indians anywhere in the world. - Sriram, Chennai-33

HORROR TALES

Its time that the Malyalees learned to respect themself as Indians .The same malyalees who make so much fuss in India by drinking only mineral water brag about civic sense and moral values are running to gulf countries for paltry salaries which is very low even by Indian standards ,willing to work like slaves in Suadi and other gulf countries should wake up now and stop selling there pride.

The question is not whether Mallus were right in going to Gulf? Whats wrong if they go to a different country to make some quick money? Anil, you would not be passing the same comments against a successful NRI right? When breaks free from the pack and becomes successful, everyone has accolades for him - like we are proud that Indians are in the top posts of many companies in silicon valley or an indian is the dean of a prestigious univ.

But if some poor guy like this mallu fails in his endeavour to make some money, we jump on him, kick him and tell him that its all his fault. I dont know who are better those US marines who illtreated this poor guy or us indians who can't even identify ourselves with his misery.

Why are we not filled with rage when a fellow indian is abused? Why doesnt our blood boil when we see someone of our own kin being battered and torture? Whatever happened to that pride of being an Indian? where is that camaradarie to rally behind a fellow indian and fight for him, fight for national pride?

dear all

I write this letter currently from abroad. I'm here only for a few months. Yes every Indian's blood boils when he sees fellow indians who wouldnt even touch a jhadoo at home sweep the floors, wash the toilets and clean the utensils here.

Here when we approach the indians engaged in such tasks, they feel no shame in doing it. even if they are being given minimum wage salaries.

So we keep quiet thinking if this desh-bandhu feels his emancipation is in doing jhadoo katka in foreign lands, where is the buddhi that God gave him when he was born? These very people then return home and show us down by drinking mineral water and calling us 'you indians'

So we see indian graduates sweeping the floors here and cleaning the toilets, and indian post graduates driving taxis, plus we see indian bandus being racially abused, but nahi indian bandhus want to go to phoren and want to come back and call us 'you indians' We dont need such double dholkis.

I think they are fit for their present jobs they do in phoren countries. We would have given a hundred salaams to such people if they would have felt no 'shame' in doing such tasks at home. This is true
national pride.

Horror tales of Indians in American Camps
by Rajasunder on Jun 26, 2004 07:53 AM  | Hide replies

Dear Editor,

I am ashamed of the in action from the Government officials in India about this mistreatment of Indians by American Soldiers. I wonder what Sonia going to do now as she is the guide and guardian of the new India. I am sure that the Leftist Left over party also going to keep quite as not many votes are going to garnish as they tried to fish in the muddied minirty water for votes. If this government have an iota of honesty they should punish the travel agency and complain to the American administration for the smuggling of Indian citizens to Iraq without consulting Indian government first. I hope somebody do something for the helpless people who got cheated by some travel agency and American Administration.

Rajasunder

DOES THE INDIAN GOVT RESPECT INDIANS
by Pranav Jayaram on Jun 26, 2004 06:17 AM

It is a standard article to read basically because the Indians themselves lack self respect and many of the type who went are responsible for lowering salaries in the Gulf and Indians being paid different wagesa to Europeans thogugh the same job gets done. However the new Government which has now learnt the power of the Indian needs to sit up and haul up the US on this . Will not the US recall its ambassador if this happened to an American worse still they may use military force .Imagine their wanting military help ; will our ,military be treated like this too , this seems to be a percursor.Indian Governmentt consiers the American nation a friend is this how they treat friends thne I am not surprised either at the treatment their enemies receive they are truly a barbarian civilisation.

Is Indian govt bothered at all?
by Praveen on Jun 26, 2004 05:14 AM  | Hide replies

This is not the first time I am reading this kind of news. It is outrageous. Is Indian government doing anything regarding such matters? Nobody seems to be interested in tackling human rights violation occuring in iraq. Its high time Indian govt does something about this.

Mr. Praveen I understand your anxiety.I agree that Indian goverment should take some serious action towards it. Even i was hurt with what ever is happening to our people in Iraq.

But my question is "Is really indian govt responsible". Its always easy to put blame on indian govt.I have seen lot of people going to gulf with fake experience and some resigning from a decent job in india and going to gulf. To some extent even some people are going to gulf illeagelly .Did all these people took the permission from indian govt. But all expect govt to take responsibilty for what ever happens to them. Govt cant provide protection to the people available in India. Its too much of expecting from the to do some thing for the poeple living abroad. I am not posting this message against what you said. Hope you will understand.

it's a shame
by amit chhabra on Jun 26, 2004 04:48 AM

it's a shame to read these facts.i feel anger and betrayal towards those travel companies who send indians to do jobs like this in places like iraq.well who in the world is not aware of double standards of americans.but in this scenario it is indians to be blammed more than americans.travel companies applying for visas at these places should be shut down and criminal charges should be filed against such companies and they should be made a example in front of other people.
but but but ...don't we know finally what's goona happen..cos we indians have our cultural attitude ...WHO CARES..IT DID NOT HAPPEN TO ME..

it's a shame

GREEDY and STUPID MALLUs!
by gsnam on Jun 26, 2004 02:32 AM

They asked for it. If common sense didn't teach anything to these greedy idiots, it's good that they experienced it first-hand. They should have known what's waiting for them. At least the Indian Embassy should have warned them, in case they were born yesterday. Looks like the Indian Embassy was born yesterday as well.
