Lacks depth.

The narration lacks depth and is very juvenile. I doubt if it can help anybody at all.

i agree..

I agree with your evaluation. The interviewers at the top school in India are also hostile reluctant to reveal their names and refusing to shake hands which is a norm even if you are interviewed at Harvard Business School.. i agree that it is more of a dissapointment than shock..

Have you tried pointing this out to your faculties after you were admitted.. would love to know their reaction..

Did you fill the form they give you when they select you for GD/PI? You are expected to write your entire career aspirations, career achievements within a meagre space.. Attachments are not allowed and are considered to be offensive... and sticking a computer printed answer are taken to be a disrespect to their design of the form which was probably designed in 1960.. when the institute was formed and then never looked at again..

There are a number of such shocking instances.. India needs more b-schools with a more open attitude and welcoming change and plurality of opinions..

Dear Rediff,
Please send it to Mr.NarayanaMurthy and other IIT'ns and IIM'ns who are boasting about themselves. How do you expect a really talented fellow, that too from a village background to survive this unethic, idiotic slection process.

I dont find any harm in the HRD ministry intervening in the IIM activities. Let there be justice.

Hi there..
I feel this is the best selection process! If it totally fair and lets you know where u went wrong.
In developed countries like USA you submit your resume and never hear from companies again.
If you want a job then 9/10 times a person with a job can hook you up ! The worst thing of all . It is widely accepted and know as "networking"

I agree entirely with you Mr. Sriram. The success of few individuals and corporates here and there will not go to decide on the performance of the MBAs in general who come out of the IIMs!
I have seen the qualities of many M.B.A.s in some offices that are much disappointing when compared to experienced who never had been to IIMs!
Many of them thrive with disappointing performances under disguise of sophistications like personality development with updated fashions, styles in accents, talks, languages, appearances, facilities, computerization with nets, busying in unworthy engagements to avoid vital issues, sitting in series of meetings, some of which could be avoided and finally absconding from office on some pretext or other, thereby wasting precious time!
Delays are rampant in petty issues too, terribly lacking in taking judicious decisions, depending upon subordinates, lacking in general administrations of the offices etc., which result in comparatively exorbitant expenditures and delays! Service, Purpose and result orientations are absent!
Well, if at all these are management skills taught by the faculties in I.I.M.s, public and consumers cannot expect any better services to the country!

Dear Mr. Sriram,

Did it ever occur to you, that the uncivilised fools who jump about and incessantly babble in GD's often don't get selected. IIM's look out for people who fit a certain portfolio, that they have judged through years of experience. Give them some credit.

The IIT's and the IIM's look for students with a profile that matches what the industry requires. Is there anything wrong with that?

Whats being from a village got to do with the fact that the GD is like that! Being from one of the 5 top institutes I can tell you that...sound as bad as this might its a very good way of judging the way people will behave given conflicting views in the group. Point I am trying to make is that...this GD has nothing to do with what you are talking and all to do with the Psychological aspects of an individual in a group. Look at the results and you should be able to judge, why this is a good way of testing people.
