If only our just judiciary and executives were always so efficient....

It is really good to know that our law enforcement agencies can track down and punish a criminal so fast... I only hope that they find the lives of all those innocent people murdered by terrorist in Kashmir, Gujarat, Mumbai or Kerala as much valuable as Staines. I hope atleast Indians find life of an Indian as valuable as anyone else. This will help to root out the deep insecurity and fear felt by youth in any community and prevent them in taking up arms to "protect" themselves and their community.

Dara Singh sentenced to death
by Reeves Wesley on Sep 22, 2003 08:24 PM

Indeed, it is overwhelming and the most joyous moment in my life to hear that the nation's heartless criminal has been brought to book through the verdict. I laud and wish the judges a warm and prosperous career and bless their family from the bottom of my heart.

The defence counsel wanted to appeal against the verdict and count for a lesser punishment on family grounds (CHildren and ailing father). But I would like to appeal to the counsel that they should for a moment before appealing for a lesser punishment think about the tiny tots of Graham Staines who were burnt alive, Esther and his wife. HOw are they going to show justice for the cruel act??? The death sentence is right. But I wish that Dara Singh would repent for his act before the judgement is executed. Let us all pray for that.

In order to protect commission of such heinous offence, extreme punishment as has been awarded in this case, is necessary

well done... but
by Vijay on Sep 22, 2003 07:22 PM

Well done court. My sincere kudos to you.
However, there is a feeling among the majority that you(judiciary) is selective in decisions & likes publicity. I do sincerely expect your same ruling in the following cases too
1. Marad killing
2. Godhra killing
3. Regular killers of J & K
4. all underworlds(whom the same h'narable courts have given bail!)
I do know your name will come in all western & far eastern countries news papers & also will not come if you give decisions in the above cases!

I do guess that courts will not work on public opinion but on law of book.

Proactive judiciary is good for the coutry.. but not selective proactivity..

Thanks
Vijay
