This is a welcomming sentence the law should be even more harsh when the convicted is found guilty even his friend should be punished severely so that in future one would think several times before committing crime.

Thanks to JUDGE for delivering this verdict to Sharma. A guy who can commit such a gruesome act only deserves this.

hope the sentence is not revoked by any other court.
wud have made more sense to have atleast sharma's hand or leg put in the tandoor for him to feel the heat first & then face death.that definetily is justified & it ensures that criminals in future will think twice have to go thro what their victims have been thro.

too harsh....
by sunmist on Nov 07, 2003 05:29 PM

The crime was serious in nature, but it was a case of destroying the evidence, otherwise there was no need
to burn the body. Also there was no consideration of the emotional aspect when the crime happened, as it has been proved that his wife was having affair with other person outside marriage which amounts to adultry.
The crime was commited in a fit of rage when sharma caught his wife red handed talking to her lover and then pretending not to. It was not a preplaned murder. The court seemed to have overlooked this fact.
The law just seemed to bother about how a dead body was treated. In other countries like USA all aspects including emotion is considered. The capital punishment would be justified if the crime was comited in a preplanned manner with a intention to kill. But that was not the case. So the punishment seems to be too harsh.

Finally law has taken its own course. Congratulations to all concerned for taking the case to its logical conclusion. The constable who despite all odds maintained his stand deserves all credit for the success of this case.
It took a good eight long year for justice to prevail. But one wonders, what happens next, as it is sure that Mr.Sharma is going to appeal in High court and Supreme Court.
