I think that the authur needs to research his facts correctly. Gulf countries do not issue PP or grant nationalities to Indians.
In my opinion the Goverment has taken the correct stance in granting dual citizenship to NRI's from USA, Canada, UK, Australia and NZ.
I being an NRI am thrilled that I can now enjoy benefits and goodness from both countries. I see no reason to believe that this grant is causing grief to some one else
When are Indians going to stop their discriminatory policies. What is the need for dual citizenship when there is the PIO card available. Most people who went abroad went for there own selfish reasons. There is absolutely no reason to show special favours to them. Similarly, while it is sad that Kalpana Chawla perished, why do we go to extraordinary lenghts to grieve when there are thousands who die of starvation in the country year after year.
even objectively speaking, there is a qualitative difference between space pilots and airforce pilots, compounded by the fact that a woman achieved this feat.
Criticism only is not going to serve the purpose which Mr. Mitra intends to convey in his article. It would have been much useful, if he had come with suggestions for a better alternative. NRIs do have sentiments for their country of origin, sometimes more than some of the citizens. They are definitely an asset for the country, which might be useful at some point of time. They play a big role in projecting India's image outside, in export and import, scientific and technological exchange, etc. Let's be positive and everyone one of us should do something and improve the conditions in our country in whatever way possible. Individuals who have good intentions to do something for humanity do not criticise or wait for others to show the light.
