Hindus should make a goodwill gesture
by Giri Girishankar on Aug 26, 2003 03:18 AM  | Hide replies

The ASI has cited ample evidence that the Masjid was built on an existing 10th century temple. The ASI Report also said there was archaeological evidence of a massive structure just below the disputed structure and evidence of continuity in structural activities from the 10th century onwards up to the construction of the disputed structure (Babri Mosque). The archaeological evidence and other discoveries from the site were indicative of remains that are distinctive features found associated with the temples of north India, the ASI report said.

This evidence must be taken over by the ASI and preserved for posterity as an archeological relic and to demonstrate the systematic destruction of sacred Hindu structures in order to build Mosques in their place. But let us leave Babri at that.

As a goodwill gesture, the Hindus should go ahead and build the Ram Temple in the neighborhood of Babri.

Why can't we have a structure that houses both a temple and a mosque?
by AP on Aug 25, 2003 11:51 PM

Why can't the spiritual leaders all agree upon a design of a structure that would house both a temple and a mosque. People of both religions would then be able to pray in peace!! Would Ram or Allah approve of the violence a place of worship has caused!?

ASI Report on Ayodhya site
by Anupama on Aug 25, 2003 10:45 PM  | Hide replies

I have spoken personally with people working at ASI, and my feeling is that the report is simply politically motivated BUNK. if politics can't stoke the fires of communalism, let false archeological constructions do it--is the motto of the present govt., and the ASI is its right hand in achieving this objective. the report should be judged and tested not on its so called "objective" or "scientific" findings, but on its ideological underpinnings. its a shame on the autonomy of this country's academic institutions that they are allowing themselves to become simply hand tools of politicians' agendas. History today is purely a BJP fiction, and its amazing that they have managed to corrupt some of the most cherished of academic ideals so easily and continue to do so.

And which political party orchestrated the latest blasts in Mumbai? Maybe Narender Modi would know the answer to that one.

I Think you should be shamed of yourself that the people like you called yourself a indian. The report given by ASI is just not on papers but even in term of proofs and no court will give its decision just on any report The court bench will obviously look for the proofs depicted in the report. The existence of decorated bricks, mutilated sculpture of divine couple, carved architectural members including foliage patterns, amalaka, kapotapali, doorjamb with semi-circular shrine pilaster, broken octagonal shaft of black schist pillar, lotus motif, circular shrine having pranjala (watershute) in the north and 50 pillar bases in association with a huge structure were the result of excavation and the people like you shld go and see them. Each and every person should be allowed to see on his own eyes and satify the same.
Let everyone vote on whether temple existed or not on seeing.
Atleast then one cannot say that the report was wrong or was written on any pressure from anybody.I hope u got my point.
