sack government employees producing more children
by Rammohan R.Prattipati on Aug 12, 2003 12:12 PM

depromote any govt employee producing the third child and dismiss any govt employee producing the fourth child. this would solve population explosion problem and enormously surplus govt employees problem.more than 50% of the national progress shown on paper is carefully cooked up by the crooked politicians with the active connivance of the corrupt beaurocrats.india needs a supreme court in every state urgently to save india from being mauled by
the hard core criminals turned into highly successful politicians on a massive scale.

Productive Population is real strength of nation
by Nagaraj on Aug 12, 2003 11:30 AM

I agree with you. When we are children we were told a story of an oldman. Who called uppon his four children and gave a stick to each one them and asked them break it. They could break it. Then he gave bundle of sticks to and them asked to break it. Then the children failed. Then he asked to break it with help of each other and they succeed in braking it. Moral said was unity is strength. More people more strength and more power. But why it is not applicable to our Nation. Our population is productive. Most of the time one feeds a family of say four or more people. That is why resources shared by many. We are more quantity in any field but none for quality. Which is problem

This is quite easily one of the best articles I have read regarding India's 'population problem'. It is based on rational argument and is backed by facts. I fully agree with everything that the author says. Please continue to publish more of his articles.

do we lack common sense?
by mithavadi on Aug 12, 2003 08:29 AM

What a funny piece of article! It is a pity that common logic takes a back seat while somebody trying to prove an odd point!
Let me remind my friends here of very basic economic theorem-The law of diminishing returns;I need not explain what it is as it will be silly to do so.

A country which has enough resorces to match with the man power can afford to have more population as the increased population will get adequate resources(land, capital,etc..)to work with. So contries like japan, germany etc(what a comparison sir! great..)can whose population density and the ratio of man power to un tapped resources is high can definitely make more money by having more poeple.
But certainly a country where major percentatge of population is already poor and where man nto land ratio is very high this will lead to the situations of fishes in drying waters.

And more importanty sir, the countries you have mentioned are developed countries.Their population as of now is not a comparison to ours. But they are the richest and we the poorest. If your claim that more population leads to more wealth then India should be ahead of these countries.

Want to know how they reached there?Ask James watt!

Real Problem
by Abhay on Aug 12, 2003 03:36 AM

I firmly believe what this article mentions is correct. I think it has been a long time that our population has played to our disadvantage. With proper guidance from people like the author himself, we can turn the population problem to our advantage and bring a wave of change.

Population problem...
by RAMKUMAR SRIDHARAN on Aug 12, 2003 02:25 AM

I want to tell my opinion that how flawed the HARYANA legislation is;
1. There is no co-relation between executing his job and his third child.
2. Having a third child or fourth child or nth child is a very personal issue.
3. National Interest has nothing to with having a third child. Having a third child should be within the means of one's own (concerned parents) resource.
4. A persons resources are not given to him based on national resources, He will continue to get the same salary or benefits out of his job whether he has one children or 'n' children.
5. It is also partial as it deals only with sarpanch (others, etc) of a particular panchyat and not on a larger scale.
6. It is highly irrelevant to even look whether a sarpanch has one child or 'n' child.

The fundamental issue with this kind of law is, the TOTAL LACK OF PROOF SHOWING A DIRECT CO-RELATION BETWEEN EFFECTIVELY DOING HIS JOB AND HIS THIRD CHILD. That is completely forgotten and we have indulged ourselves in an argument considering issues like national interest and other issues, and passed an order restricting a very small group of people from doing something very personal to them.
