Want to hear courageous voices
by rajanala ramakrishna on Nov 21, 2017 06:23 PM

I heard one producer is planning an artistic film on Prophet Mohammed with content purely based on the directors artistic imagination. I hope and request all the above voices will whole heartedly support this venture on the basis of FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION. Really want to count the courageous voices without partiality.

dont know Bhansali, but,i guess, is a reputed personality.BUT greats also are prone to mistakes. Assuming Bhansali's an angel, whichhe'snot, forargument sake, he made COSTLY mistakes., and he wants to get away with it. He has screened ittomedia bef getting a cert todo just that; he left an imporotant column BLANK if the film is fiction or historical and if the latter.. the sources etc.
So I am forced to think, PADMAVATI deserves a ban.

What costly mistake? Nobody has said even once what is the mistake? Nobody has seen the movie yet.

I think there is no way it will be released until the dance sequences are deleted. If that breaks the story, then they will have to reshoot suitable substitute scenes to replace the dancing.

Why name the story as Padmavati? Could have been any other name like Bahubali.

Why are they not filling the most important column whether the film is fiction or historical? They know that theirgoose will be cooked either way, that's why. If they say fiction, then they will be asked why did they name all the characters after historical characters? If they say historical, then they will be asked to delete dance scenes of Padmaavati because princesses and queens in those days never danced in a public assembly. Only dancers did.

Let down by Prasoon Joshi
by Vijay Sahani on Nov 21, 2017 06:18 PM  | Hide replies

I had thought Prasoon Joshi is a sensible person and he has the guts to stand up to pressure from the BJP government. Unfortunately, Prasoon Joshi has let us all Indians down.

Prasoon Joshi objected to Bhansali showing the movie to Arnab Goswami and Rajat Sharma, TV editors. My point is, "Is it illegal?". Prasoon Joshi should stick to the law.

And what is this about "dialogue"? Dialogue with BJP_terr0r!sts" who are only interested in their own vested interested to get Rajput votes by provoking and diving the society? Never.

Oh, it is simple, is it not ?

The BJP has a lot to hide now from the electorates of Guj and Rajasthan (as well as those everywhere else).

Though it is still very much ahead of the Congress in Gujarat (their far bigger hoard of black money has to count), the prospect of even a reduction in seats and vote share makes the BJP nervous !

Theatrics and emotive topics have, if they are whipped up adequately enough, always held the attention of commoners across north India at the cost of those related to governance !

In the coming year, one can be certain to see many irrelevances such as this movie transformed into life and death topics for voters ! After all, there are several state assembly elections coming up on the way to the big one in 2019 !

What rubbeesh. Bhansali was beatenup in Jan-Feb while shooting. He promised to show the script to Karni sena and cheated on his promise. This issue has been around since Jan-Feb when even UP elections had not taken place. Nice conspiracy theory trying to link this with Gujarat polls. Even if it was Rajasthan polls one can understand. But Rajputs have minimal presence in Gujarat. Keep dreaming new stuff up, though.

If the BJP does not intend to use the chaos around the release of this movie as a tool to divert the attention of common Gujaratis, why is it funding the karni sena to go for violent disruptions of public order in that state ?

If Rajputs dont have a presence in Guj, why is the karni sena organising big protests there while it is ignoring other states such as U.P, M.P, etc ?

Only because no elections are coming up in those states ?

BJP goons holding film industry to ransom for their electoral gains by threatening violence is a "SERIOUS ISSUE". Nothing can be more serious than this!

The real serious issue is the hold that DawoodIbrahim and the underworld had and still has on bollywood all these years and how the whole of bollywood danced to dawoods tunes. Where were you then?
