I dont recall having heard her name or seen her in any award winning moive (art/commercial) or even a documentary or any interview. No wonder she has come with the example of bomb etc..The best part is that according to her what matters how FRENCH would view India through Sholay.I guess that her way to be in public eye

I guess this is the best she can come up with whatever reserve of grey matter in her grey haired brain holds.
She is an absolute dumbhead firstly to say Satyajit Ray was somewhat tolerable....and secondly to mention it was deeply embarassing to watch sholay. Satyajit Ray is uncomparable. A true master in his field. And Sholay an all time classic. A movie that could be watched by old, young and kids together and enjoy every moment of this epic movie not having to forward even a single minute...i.e. watching full movie including the songs. Well...we are a democratic country and everyone has a right to express their views. Thankyou for expressing yours and identifying yourself as a moron.
Although i will also say that her serial sarabhai vs sarabhai was entertaining.

The problem is that we often ignore the fact that there are movies outside regular 'commercial' movies. 'Commercial' movies are entertaining, but do not give a true picture of life. Most of us (including me myself) enjoy these movies because they give us a break from the normal tensions of life. But those looking for realistic cinema can obviously be turned off. As far as Sholay is concerned, its my favourite movie. I can watch it hundreds of times. But if you see movies like The Seven Samurai (Japanese, by Akira Kurosawa, and The Magnificient Seven(from Hollywood, itself inspired by the former) you will realise that Sholay is not very original. That does not, of course, take away from the fact that Sholay is a very entertaining and enjoyable movie.
If a bomb falls on India and only Sholay is left, the world would view India through the lens of Sholay. Perhaps this duffer lady would prefer the movie Paar (which I also think is a very good film in its own field) to survive the bomb attack, so that the world thinks that India is full of poor and half naked men like the one portrayed by her husband. The lesser mentioned about this egotistic duffer about Satyajit Ray, the better.
Probably Ratna doesnt understand that masses watch movies for the sheer fun & entertainment for 3 hrs & they dont go to cinema for critical aclaim a movie will relate to
