Arjun Sarja would have been ideal for Zanjeer role...
by ragesh aravindan on Sep 14, 2013 06:15 PM

The kannada actor Arjun Sarja would have been ideal for Zanjeer's police officer role.

Of all the south indian actors, I believe Arjun Sarja plays the role of the police officer the best.

He has an intensity and sense of idealistic commitment which is not equalled by any other south indian actor . At the same time he has a superb physique with a good command of martial arts due to his black belt in karate, which makes his action scenes credible and exciting.

His roles in Sevakan, Parashuram, and latest film Vana Yuddham , where he plays the famous cop D.G.P K. Vijay Kumar who outwits the notorious forest bandit leader Veerappan.

I enjoyed watching Vana Yuddham , and it was a technically brilliant film.

Ram Charan has a very good physique, but is lacking technical skills in acting.

He should have attempted Zanjeer after polishing his acting skills in reputed acting schools and gaining good work experience by acting in a couple of well-scripted films with good quality directors .

This would have given him a good grasp of acting fundamentals and provided him with the technical base for playing the critically acclaimed role of Amitabh's character in Zanjeer.

As the famous saying by Ralph waldo Emerson goes, " The future belongs to the man who is prepared", and this is true for the field of acting as well.

Hope he profits from this experience to become a more technically accomplished actor.

Rajnikanth with Hrithik....
by ragesh aravindan on Sep 07, 2013 06:01 PM  | Hide replies

Rajnikanth had substantial hits in bollywood too, while he was numero uno in Tamil cinema at the same time.

His memorable blockbusters in bollywood include Giraftaar and Hum , both in which he plays Amitabh's brother.

Incidentally, current bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan made his debut with Rajnikanth in Bhagwan Dada as a 12 year old actor.

Hrithik played a 12 year old orphan who is the foster son of Rajnikanth, who adopts him out of compassion.

The young Hrithik is eventually killed by villain Danny Dengzongpa, while successfully trying to protect a lady from being molested.

Rajnikanth avenges his son Hrithik's death by killing Danny Dengzongpa in the end of the film.

Even though the film was not a hit, the experience at a young age proved useful to Hrithik Roshan when he laucnched his blockbuster Kaho na pyaar hai 14 years later, and established himself as a superstar.

Rajnikanth probably has the distinction of being the only actor who worked both alongside with Amitabh and Hrithik, the current superstar and future superstar, at that point of time.

not so successful
by s kumar on Sep 07, 2013 04:21 PM

Though Rajini,Kamal, mamooty , mohanlal were superbly talented and megastars , actually in hindi films consistently/continously they were not as successful as they were in south/Kollywood (or compared to top bollywoood heroes) . Bcos the audience requirements/tastes and fan followings are totally different. Ironically this does not apply to heroines whose natural trajectory was to get basics right in kollywood first , succeed and then migrate to bollywood. Infact many south hero superstars think twice before venturing into bollywood bcos of low success rate(but most heroines do almost !)

Kamal, Rajini, Sridevi are a class apart
by Krish on Sep 06, 2013 07:19 PM

Kamal, Rajini and Sridevi are all time greats and can't be confined to one industry. While Kamal is unparalleled in terms of acting, singing, dancing and other filmi ingredients, Sivaji Rao Gaekwad is a supreme megastar- probably one star whom the entire country recognizes and associates with, and Sridevi is the ideal mix of filmi (dance/ glamour and acting. If Kamal and Rajini had devoted a bit more time they would have conquered hindi films too. And the best part is how these 3 have evolved spanning 40 years of acting career. Poor Ram Teja, one can only pity his fate for being drawn into this kind of lopsided comparison.

by ragesh aravindan on Sep 05, 2013 05:02 PM

Malayalam actor and superstar Madhu starred in Amitabh Bachchan's first film, Saat Hindustani (1969), where they played roles of a group of 7 Indian soldiers striving for Goa's independence from Portuguese colonial rule in 1961.

Saat Hindustani was Amitabh's first film and Madhu's first film in Bollywood.

The film was a great critical success along with being a commercial success and bagged National awards.
