Good movie. Very unpredictable story telling. Dhanush did well in crude desi average common look. Zoya and others acted well. AR Rahman... Boy! Very average music. Dont agree with the review on this. So subtly the main message is conveyed. Worth the time spent.
The Movie is doing very well at B.O-Wont be surprised if it Gross 75Cr-May be even 100Cr-as the Tamil version is also being released Those who have seen Dhanush only in Kolaveri-and opinionated about his looks,do check the movie-I was one of them-TheGuy is An ACTOR with certain Star qualities in an unconventional way-Our entire group of 6 who watched it last weekened have only praise for the guy and also to mention that Sonam too can act.Direction,script and screen play above average-performance-very good-Music-Good.Offcourse ending is Sad-but movie makers and stake holders will be happy
1. Dhanush's performance is excellent, Sonam looks good as always. 2. Storyline and story telling by director is good, fresh, it is not like Karan Johar/YRF where most of the things are predictable. 3. Music wise I had more expectations from Rehman sir, most of the songs are good but I felt that music wasn't new or impressive. 4. The best movie of 2013. 5. I would recommend watching it.

raanjhana rocks....only dhanush could have done justice to kundan...any other star could have ruined it because it would be hard to explain why zoya could not fall in love with kundan....dhanush has opened gates for some more great scripts in bollywood about common average looking indian guyz; till now unbelievably represented by handsome hunks of bollywood...welldone team raanjhana...
Review is all praise of music of Rehman, but I dont remember any tune or song after seeing the film today. Its just a remix of Jodha Akbar, Reng de basanthi, delhi 6, nothing else. Lyrics go its way and music go its way. Its high time Rehman should skip music to Hindi films he doesnt understand the lyrics , just some tunes of sufi songs.
Film second half too boring with Am admi party etc I may give only 2 stars for first half.

Very Very true.
Rehman has immense understanding of music but not of words. He might need to work on understanding and pronouncing words properly. He is an icon, but should not rule with mediocrity. The music of Rjn'' is ordinary, though the tunes are good.

thats why he got many awards both national and international. Recently, in TN, he was invited to attend the Tamil Film Industry felicitation to great Music Directors MSV and his associate Ramamoorthy (who passed away recently). His gestures on the stage was pathetic which showed on his face arrogance. MSV and Ram were very modest though, they are in music field for morethan five decade and were all praise for the present generation music composers. He lacks soberness. I am sure, except a few movies all his other music are stale. I am sure, there will be a lot of comments as to what do I know about Music.
