I think S Janaki is right in refusing the Padma Bhushan award on the ground that South Indians are sidelined.
Dr.Verghese Kurian the founder of Amul, who was instrumental for white revolution, Dr.Swaminathan who was instrumental for green revolution and recently our Sri E Sreedharan an outstanding engineer responsible for Konkan Railway and Delhi Metro ahead of schedule are some of the most deserving South Indians who have not been awarded Bharat Ratna. Surely,if thses stalwarts were to be from the North, the government would have decorated them with Bharat Ratna long back.

Lets set an example that there is no place for arrogance and regional bias when it comes to national awards.
National awards are to be conferred to artists who are humble enough to accept it as national honour. We don't need cry babies like S.Janaki and Madhu to hold Padma Shri or Padma Bhushan awards.
Let their talent go unrecognised at national level.

Vishwas, Forget decorations, you first try to be at least worthy of a toilet paper before you faaaaart your cynical view about Padma awards here.
Its better than just being another confused and frustrated congress bashing soul here.
Any artiste who is an Indian citizen is an indian national, labelling only those who make it in hindi cinema as national is racism. Also, when hindi was made national language. not even 40% of hindi speakers could read or write it. Absolutely ridiculous.

Saif Ali Khan was conferred a Padma award for illegally killing a black buck. That was his contribution to India. Since the Padma awards committee thought black buck = kala paisa, they assumed he was fighting black money.
everybody feels they deserve better...but then if lata gets earlier..janaki should have got earlier too...why so late for rajesh khanna? why so late for sridevi? why no bharat ratna for vajpayee...

This is about Padmashri. Madhu is a very senior actor/dirctor and Padmashri is too low for him. Sridevi can still get padmabhushan she is only on her 40s. Rajesh Khanna had got padma award earlier and this is padma bhushan for him

Correctly said man, Vajpayee is the only deserving candidate for the Bharat Ratan in the country and all others you said are really true
