get ur GK corrected Irfan. Da Vinci Code was not banned in India. Supre court rejected the ban plea. It was banned only in selected states. Remember in Kerala(the state where the maximum number of christians stay, and that too the most influencial community there)has not banned the movie there.

So as u have mentioned democracy should be for all, if da vinci code ban plea is rejected by supreme court y should viswaroopam be banned.

Ofcourse

Ofcourse terrorists wont like this move (I meant "terrorists" not muslims). If, like Rajni said, they were to remove the scenes that may be offensive to the terrorists, they will have to go directly to "The End" after the title card.
Good effort nut not an excellent movie though.

Nothing Offensive
by Patriot on Jan 28, 2013 11:07 AM  | Hide replies

There is nothing offensive about Indian (Patriotic?) Muslims...these workless organizations have simply, blindly raised an unnecessary alarm about the film showing them in bad light.

The movie definitely has some ups and downs...a spy thriller but slows intermittently due to flash backs going back to Afghanistan on and off.

Kamal just gets out of a scary terror group in US Warehouse, and comes home, cuts his hair to sport a new hair style...seriously some scenes look very manufactured.

If you want to make a movie for world audience, make it that way. Don't try to cater to different needs.

This movie will not go well in C centers - small towns, villages.

B center - women, old people will not like this movie. Too hard to follow.

A centers are where this will sell...if piracy is rampant, then thats going to dim prospects.

Muslim groups should have left the movie release so that Kamal survived the financial armageddon. Even if court allows now, it is going to be reasonable financial grosser.

Not that its a bad movie and Kamal has not done a good job, the movie ends up catering up none other than some die hard fans.

why ban if you are not al qaida supporter
by tamilukarasan on Jan 28, 2013 02:48 AM  | Hide replies

The film shows only al qaida as it is,

unlike the author mentioned, it does show taliban children as much as like you, who want to become doctors/engineers,etc.
As per Nirupama's character, it does make sense if you watch the whole movie.
May be he needs to see the movie three / four times to understand it, as it is taken at international level. Definitely not indian masala type.

If the govts who banned don't want this film to show about al qaida, then ban all TV channels / news networks as well.

as for the complain of the author, that this film does not show a good muslim in new york scenes,

because its focus is on only the story and the story revolves around terrorists plan particularly in NY scenes.

If there is a club scene, you will only see the kind of people you would see there. no body else. so whats the complaint is about.
Also its serious movie of intl quality, unlike regular Indian movies where they take you around town to show baby shower/ear piercing/family birthday scenes and have a dance or fight sequence where they can show all types of people, in this case muslims.

Only thing is, they always show NYPD/FBI as weak, which is kinda looks like a joke if you live around here.

All uzlins are not terrorits. There are lot of good people among them. The agitation in amil Nadu against screening of Viswaroopam seems to encouraqge the wrong perception
