His name was kamalahaasan and is an Iyengar Tamil Brahmin. He changed it to Kamal Hassan to show solidarity with them when he was stopped in US/Canada immigration! What an irony !

The movie itself is just an average film, nowhere near the International standards people claim it to be. A shade of Dasavatharam here, a tinge of Kurudhipunal there and a heady mix of Kamal's hyper-tones and a lot of docudrama stuff, generously borrowed from real life drama of Osama story..But for the protests (both DTH& the communal stuff) people would have gone to watch it in hoards, got disappointed and gone back home in frustration. Yet,the producer,Mr.Hassan would have laughed all the way to the bank and gone for one more self-indulgent mediocrity of a film (the end of part-1, paving way for a sequel - typical 70s style!)..Kamal should realize now..that his style of bashing his own community doesn't go well with other communities. should STOP acting and become a trainer for method acting and let new talents take over.Else he would lose not just money. but also the respect he has garnered with his past classics..

Ayyayyo - aarambichuttaangappa, periya pudunghees!

Everyone has memory, everyone has character, everyone has personality and so does Kamal. Just watch this movie and enjoy. Try to appreciate the effort, if not the idea. If the idea does not appease you, move on. Keep your judgement to yourself.

Neatly said.He must capitalize on histroinics with which he is strong. He cannot stertch his market to international level which he may not be capable of. The international standard phobia has to die down in Tamil/ indian cinema. Their international audiences are only NRI's
