GOW deserved more preference than Barfi. Even if it is not a family movie, let me tell some intelligent people here on blog, that the JURY is NOT looking to See FAMILY DRAMA OR ROMANTIC MOVIES.
They are looking for all over rating of the movie, considering Story, Drama Grip, Realistic, Cinematography, Art Direction and Film Direction.
If you compare these two films, GOW is far gripping, a narrative and 360 degree integrated film.
The problem in INDIA is that we Indians are corrupt from the tip-toe to hair on head. Unless the people take things in hand to improve our own nation we will never be able to increase our brand Value.
Shame on the selectors. Where is IT department now? They should be raiding all international and national accounts of these selectors and their families.

Oscars is not looking for a movie created using clips from other movies.
When he did AKS, he simply outplayed the great Big B. And that, I guess was a strategic mistake. It is obvious that star kids have a mighty preference over the others. Like K Jo says, it is all one big family.
Abhishek acted in 17 films before Dhoom became a hit. (And, yes, John was the Hero). We know how well the other star kids have done. It would still be better for Manoj to play it cool and make his mark.
Good interview. But I disagree on one point. There are also better films made on south side especially Tamil and Malayalma movies which can also be considered for oscar and not just the two names Monaj mentioned.
Re: Other south films are also worthy for oscar.

I guess, the best film for National film awards should be sent for oscars
