Hey Love involves both boys and girls! So all boys are holy samaritans and kust girls are cheaters! Grow up dude
If people think IR is the only greatest guy ever living on this earth, create a new world for yourself and for IR and take him there and blow your horns for him there... Leave us and this world to ourselves here! ARR is as good as Ilayaraja (again for this generation, ARR has mercilessly overpowered Ilayaraja who has not managed to adapt to generations). And if ARR had been part of Ilayaraja's generation, he would have competed with Ilayaraja equally. Rahman was the one who composed that theme music in Punnagai Mannan. Later, Raja (and subsequently his fans) tried valiantly to wash that underneath the carpet and said it was done by IR himself... IR (and his fans) don't like ARR because he is better than IR. In all genres of music, ARR has beaten IR. Melody, which is IR's forte, Rahman gives much better melodies. Even today. Hear "Moongil Thottham" from Kadal..... IR - Rest in peace now! You will be remembered in Tamil cinema, but not better than ARR

Sudarshan - I think you have made comments without a deeper thought,
If IR decided to just two films per year his songs would have been orders of magnitutde better than ARR. ARR simply does not have the abilty to deliver songs. All said and done movies are commercial and a music director will have to cater to the demands of producers, directors and the like.
If ARR does only things he likes (like scoring for Mani only) then he cannot be a film composer. I would rate Harris better than ARR when it comes to adaptabilty and acceptability.
Comparing to IR? - ARR would have got killed had he worked in the same period.

can there be a more hyperbole than this ? ARR is good but can never in his dreams beat his master the Maestro when it comes to creativity, speed of composing, authenticity, etc.

Sudarsan,
I am a Kannadiga, therefore tamil songs make no sense for me. Having said that, I still prefer to listen to the old Ilayaraja songs as against any trash that is generated by Rahman. The last time Rahman really came up with a good score, which made people to listen to it repeatedly was so long back that it is forgotten. Compare that with Ilayaraja's songs... Idayam oru Kovil, Ilavu Nilzha (two songs I remember) are classics forever from his thousands of songs....
Class is permanent, so is Raja Sir.. Form is temporary, like ARR.

Looks like this guy is a Mental. Has watched Kadal twice, probably the only one after Sani Ratnam
I am watching it 2nd time! Middle finger to all these reviews.. The film looks beautiful and fun! Esp. Gautam Karthik is a brilliant debut. Sadly he is weighed down by the over and unrealistic expectations that are put on a legendary director who cannot be expected to repeat the kind of magic that he did almost 20 years ago..

yeah he is such a confused soul, instead of going to doctor went to movie again perhaps. Or may be that he has been paid well by the actor to watch this movie again
Mani Ratnam's best days are behind him. I liked the movies that he made in the early phase of his career. Among his recent ventures, I liked "Aayutha Ezhuthu." I believe that like Balachander and Bharatiraja, Mani also has lost his mojo.

Guru was different though there was no "feel" factor. As for the rest of his recent movies, less said the better
just saw KADAL. except for couple of scenes,i mean cinematography, few melodious lines (read not songs)its waste of money. lucky that the theater was far away from or else i would have jumped into KADAL.
He is good movies are only Mouna Ragam and Geethanjali. He is an unrealistic director with lot of artificial touch. He needs to learn lot from Bharathi Raja, Bala and Ameer
