Great article...
by rajiv gupta on Aug 28, 2013 04:15 PM

We need more such articles.

Bollywood should have some self-restraint or self-regulation in its diabolical, sleazy depiction of women for the sake of attracting viewers and money making.

Lack of quality cinema is unfortunately greatly harming the womenfolk of this country, leading to increased rape and molestation cases.

Height of Hippocracy
by on Aug 28, 2013 12:33 PM  | Hide replies

Yes Absolutely right ! the moment we utter/see/fshoot an item number we disrespect a woman. I admit that we are gradually becoming insensitive, lacking social responsibilities and digest everything in the name of 'change'!
It is really difficult to watch a movie on TV along with our family members as the taste of the movie is so low, full of vulgarity and cheap sexuality which never potray the things which it ought to. Why can't we make movies which really subscribe to human values, true love, romance, family ethos and care or any other social message depicted from the famous Indian writers like Sarat chandra, Bimal Roy, Rabindranath, Premchand … the list is endless. 80% of Hindi movies (bollywood) do not reflect anything about our society neither they bear any meaning still they gross 100 crores (Chennai Express/Housefull-2/… again the list is endless !) People say that young generation is changing !
Is this the change? we light candles and shout slogans for the rape victims and same 'we' blow whistles at 'munni badnam hui' or 'sheila ki jawani' item songs and clap when our children dance to such bollywood numbers on the stage in a school function or dance competition! We only prepare our children with such double standard mentality from their very childhood, ain’t we?
The corruption is in our blood, we have become materialistic and only running after money forgetting our culture, values and ethics. We have become hypocrates.

Yes, it is written very well, Eveyone in Film industry / TV Serials/ Adv.mkaing companies have to introspect and they will come to know the fact and once they realised, they will never need to protest as these kind of crimes will drastically come down.

writer in wrong direction
by dk on Aug 28, 2013 10:10 AM  | Hide replies

Though the core theme is correct of the article, i felt as if writer is too much stressed out trying to prove everyone wrong but relating extreme things. It seems she is cribbing, complaining & helpless. Her status she have mentioned in first para only. anyways lost interest in article within few paras.

Yes all films should stop showing pursuing girl against her will and then finally making her agree to your intentions, this creates all kinds of road side romeos who make a career out of eveteasing and some go further to bigger crimes like rapes, murders or throw acid on girls who refuse their advances. A no from a girl is a no and not a yes or maybe, people should be taught to respect her liberty. If a girl wears an outfit which as per you is revealing why the heck does it give the guys a free license to label her easy? Dont guys also do extravagant things to just be a centre of attraction, girls might also want to be admired at but to invite these into teasing, hooting, comments etc is just because of the depraved mindset of indian males.

comparing selfless lover to a stalker??
by Dayanand Shanbhag on Aug 28, 2013 06:55 AM  | Hide replies

Something is terribly wrong with your sensibilities. Dhanush potrayed a selfless lover giving up his life for his lover. And you call him a stalker?

No...Dhanush portrayed a stalker. ALL WOMEN would be DISGUSTED by this kind of behavior.

How hard is it for people to respect the decision of girl who says no??
