excellant writeup...these double standards adopted by so called bollywood kings, divas and bhais are nauseating so say the least. Good that someone is writing about these hipocrites. There is enormous influence of bollywood on whatever atrocities are happening to women. These may not be overt influences but subtle ones that commodify women and deny them any respect

Respect can not be demanded...it has to be earned.
Your article highlights so many wrong things shown in movies about women...but nothing about the origin of such things.
What about those ladies who earn crores by doing item numbers and portrayal of sh..ty characters?
Image of a person/society/organisation/community is what it works hard to build: not what others are trained to see and made to believe.
Every product getting sold is using women's body to market and its provided by them only not mens...
There is no doubt rape/stalking/eve teasing is wrong but such things can't be stopped till every women is taught to earn respect.

Why mother Teresa never complained about getting eve teased or stalked.

She has earned her share of respect by one way and other can also earn doing their bit.

A good character is always respected and a bad character may not punished but it definitely creates problems for good ones.

A rapist is not created overnight..it takes millions or may be more small/big incidents to create such cynical mind.

Before training men what to think its better to train women how to present themselves...here dressing has very little to do with presenting but its more about present themselves as a person, professional, sister, girlfriend, wife, mother, etc...
if society sees u doing justice to your different roles definitely women will get its due respect.

Same is applicable for men as well

Period!

so you mean the rapists or hooligans tease only item girls? or girls of less moral character? our movies show hero always chasing and pursuing girls even when they say no to finally break her will, the romeos follow this principle some leave it upto eve teasing some graduate and go forward to rapes.

What a nice trailer this movie has...These three monkeys do not have any talent..So they use these kinds of cheap movies to show that they are still in this industry..Once they earn money then they become 'SADHUS' and start giving lectures on crime against women...!! These kinds of movies should never be allowed to save our society..!!

I don't know whether item songs contributes to disgusting behaviour of youth on the street. But it certainly demeans the female gender. As a sign of protest, we must boycott movies having raunchy / vulgar item numbers. Same goes for such movies also. Bollywood is devoid of moral. In the name of freedom of expression, art etc. it will stoop to any level. Of course, there are exceptions but they can be counted on one's finger tips.

what can you expect from this industry
by Shrish Khunder on Aug 27, 2013 05:32 PM

Just look at the major heroines, kar, kat, PC, bips,
all are high class CGs.
all promote promiscuous behavior
all get paid for doing item numbers, can someone ask what is the sole purpose of having item numbers?
if u take all major films of all these so called 'gals' their combined effort will be less than 15 mins per film.
but their integrity is not the main concern. Its the end result of their 'acting' - promotion of sexual perversion.

Aamir Khan's 3 idiots released 2 yeas before his talk show so there is no question of him condemning something and doing it in his movie.
As far as the "balatkaar" scene goes, it was one of the most hilarious ones ever and should be taken in context of the movie and its screen play.
The writer here is obviously taking things way too seriously. Yes, cinema should draw certain limits but maintaining law and order on the road is the duty of police not movie makers.

oh,so you mean police men should stick to "protecting" women from cheap low and crass mentality of lustful boys...zeeshan admit it,that balatkar scene was not really needed and he underplayed the seriouness of the word in that scene and some movies which does that more often along with commodifying women end up letting that lustful moneter in every man let loose and which tries to prey on women and we have rapes and molestation,it is a vicious circle!!!
