Its really strange that some of major classics and greatest movies have not been a blockbuster or superhit like Shakti. Such a great movie, but didn't fare well inspite of stalwarts helming it. But anyway, we audience are lucky and thankful to Ramesh Sippy for making and giving us such a class movie. The acting, the confrontation, the emotion etc. Who can make a movie like this or there are alas no towering stars like Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachan, Rakhee, Smita who used to get into the characters and their presence itself was worth the time and money spent for the ticket. All those who are able to see and enjoy such a movie is worth. The beauty of some directors and actors are that they stay well under the script without trying to hover their personality and star power or charisma over the script, and when superstars are also controlled by script and story, we get a masterpiece.
Films like shakti comes once in a century just like actors like the great Dilip Saheb. He is an institution. Not a single actor in India can match him. Another film is Mashaal ? can any one make and act like Dilip Saheb No is the answer
'Shakti' has always been one of my most loved movies. The just loved the intensity between two characters and ideology. Everything was right about the movies, performance, direction and off-course the script. One of best from Big B and the great Dilip Sahab...
there was no need for DK to shoot Ab in his back. He could have easily shot him in leg or feet, basically below abdomen are, as per police's training. unfortunately our makers take too much liberties and ignored this essential part of shooting training in Police. Our police is better than DK, or other hindi films.

You are technically right Shirish but certain cinematic licences within reason are allowed to filmmakers or else there won't be any difference between a film and a documentary. Your intelligence was not stretched beyond limit and it rendered a closure in sync with the characters and the film. Similar objection could also be found with another Indian cinema masterpiece "Sholay" as to why the Thakur (Sanjeev Kumar) did not enlist the services of Policemen instead of relying on two crooks to catch the dacoit Gabbar.
