The movie is like a Shakespearean tragedy with the hero dying in the end. The song maangi thhi ek dua..sad version; has still with me and gives me a lump in the throat everytime I hear it. Salute to the Shakti team. True gem. Thanks Sukanya.
Nice piece sukanya, very well written... watched the movie times and every time i discovered something new in the film... In your review, I would have loved to read about small but sweet relationship between smita patil as amit ji's wife and dilip saab and rakhee ji... I still remember the scenes where smita patil goes to their house to meet them, but she stammers to explain that she is their daughter in law and then the reaction of dilip saab and rakhee ji reaction only thru her eyes...I always love the scene...

fully agree , went back to the days when we bunked scholl to watch them..but in a time when movies full of nonsense ARE made and promoted by great marketing , hardly any content based stories are written.even now movies made 3,4 decades ago area treat to watch.must have matched angoor and chupke chupke may be 30 times but its still enjoyable.
was a remake o clasic Sivaji starrer tamil hit THANANGAPADAKKAM. Sivaji & Dilip sab in their roles as the honest policemen. during the screening of the Sakthi in Mumbai,m people used to say: 'dilipne bachan ko chuitney kar dia' even B admitted it. such classics are very few. Smita, Amrish, Rakhee, Anil add did their work very well. V Ramanathan village rengasamudram

It was surprising that Amitabh accepted such a secondary role.He had nothing to do in film.He was running like scared mice ! After Shakti the duo of Salim Javed split.Amitabh did not work with Ramesh Sippy till 1991 in Akeyla.
