The new age producer/director have the money to buy rights and remake, but from where they will bring actors like farooq shaikh, deepti naval, sayeed jaffry, rakesh bedi, ravi baswani. Who will create songs like kahan se aaye badra and who will write that kind of songs.

I wonder whether it would have got 5 stars that time or not. It invariably happens that the critics shy away from giving full stars at the time of release, but later after years realise the importance of the movie. take for example any Amitabh movie like Shahenshah, Mahaan, Main Azad Hoon etc when released were criticised in reviews (e.g. Khalid Mohd) but they when release later on like this, the critics go all over it with praise. because now it is not risky & their ratings will not be compared with other critics. If the product is good then why can't they reward it at the right time?
Chasme Buddoor is definitely one of the best. These days when every day has a Western appeal and actors hanker after toned bodies and biceps, one is reminded of the nice carefree times. The age of natural acting and that came so naturally to actors like Shaikh, Palekar, Utpal Dutt and others of similar ilk. When one loved seeing different schools and types of comedy like Angoor versus Chupke Chupke versus Katha versus Golmaal versus Lakhon ki Baat versus Chasme Buddoor versus something as hilarious as Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron!! Even slapstick comedy was good and double entendre was not the order of the day!! One misses those directors and those movies. And remakes possibly cannot catch that magic..Originals are always better
One of the best comedies of all time. At par with Golmaal and chupke chupke. Those were the days when comedies used to make your heart smile, and not like today's comedies, where monkeys are slapping humans and humans are slapping monkeys
