poor analysis from rediff, why A - Z for example there are many outstanding telugu films on letter 'S' apart from shankarabaranam.. 1.sagarasangamam 2.swathimuthyam 3.SHIVA
M for Maya Bazaar.. I think it should be in the list first than the other 2.
Similarly I liked Rudra Veena. I guess it won a national award. That movie.. bought me close to Telugu movies.. though I did not understand much of the language then.

Maya Bazaar - you can watch it any number of times and you will still enjoy it. Now compare that to NTR's Adavi Ramudu or Yama Gola where he looks and acts like a buffoon. NTR should have stuck to mythologicals, he cannot even point his gun straight in Vetagadu.
Telugu cinema died a long time ago. Probably in the late seventies. Early eighties so the arrival of ANRs and NTRs pracing about in guady attire with opposites old enough to be their grand daughters. That was the beginning of the end for tollywood and it has been sliding ever since. Just a waste of celluliod.

Not bane, it's a boon to Bollywood. 80 percent of the movies being done by actors starting from Jitendra, Sanjeev Kumar from 1980s to today's Salman Khan, Akshay kumar movies are remakes of Telugu movies. You should be thankful to Telugu film industry because of which Bollywood is providing livelihood to the so-called actors.

It is a fact that Telugu films have seen a steep decline. The days when Telugu films were remade in Hindi are gone. The films in the other three Southern languages are miles ahead.More over Telugu language has died an agonising death, whether in dialogues, songs or even titles of Telugu films. It is an interesting (if shameful)statistic that in the last year, the length of film excised by the censors from Telugu films is eight times the Hindi film track similarly cut!
