The Best Music Direction (songs) went to Neel Dutt for the same film while Mayookh Bhowmick won the Best Background score award for Bengali film Laptop.
Hooray for the Marathi Film Industry. After Upendra Limaye won Best Actor for Jogwa, it is now Girish Kulkarni who wins for Deool, a stirring performance in a sterling film, and to top it off, Deool shares the top National Award. Girish Kulkarni was also so effective as the protagonist farmer in "Gaabhricha Paoos" (The Damned Rain !!!)
The jury's forward-thinking has been shown with the 2 awards to the very sensitive yet hard-hitting "I AM" directed by Onir, who also shown with his debut film "My Brother Nikhil".
VIDYA BALAN - What else CAN 1 say abt this powerhouse performer except that she has swept EVERY1 aside, male or femnale, with her gutsy role in THE DIRTY PICTURE. And she will surely vow all over again in KAHAANI. May her hunger for the challenging roles NEVER, EVER cease !!!
I hv only ONE quibble : I do wish that the awards jury had conferred the Supporting Actor crown on Naseeruddin Shah.

Rightly said man. Please join me in my request to sites like rediff to give more exposure to Marathi Film Industry. These awards have proven that just like any other regional language films, Marathi films don't lack anything
