Appreciable sincerity in Salim Khan's words. Something characteristic of Salman also.

That they could make such movie those days which was a world class, however very recently i came to know that this movie is a scne by scene copy (unoffical) of a movie named
'once upon a time in west'.
Watch this movie, you will stop respecting this movie, although its great entertainment for we people.

Sholay is a copy of the Magnificent Seven, which in turn is a copy of Akira Kurosawa's the Seven Samurai. Once upon a time in the west is not the source material of the story, though ideas may have been stolen from that film too.

I think it's only fitting that hindi cinema's best movie is a copy of a copy. After all, what original idea has hindi cinema produced? Its all rip-offs of other people's ideas or recyling of the same old idea.

Sholay was based on a number of western movies and it shall be impropeer to name one. In any case it was not based on 'Once upon a time in West' at all. In fact Abhishek Chaubey's 2009 'Ishqiya' was closer to it.
