Numbers don't reveal the complete truth
by Ravi on Aug 23, 2012 06:08 AM

This 100 crore figure does not highlight the number of screens that the movie is released to on day 1, 2...

This is very important when we are looking at multiplex theatres around us.

I think that will truly reflect the popularity of any movie.

Feature Films are the only
by Sangram Parida on Aug 22, 2012 06:50 PM

form of entertainment we can afford. There are no playgrounds, no swimming pools, no surfing, no trekking. The only thing we Indians can get is Cricket and Cinema for passing time. The picnic spots are overcrowded and gone filthy. There are no trees left in the Jungle. It is better to watch Discovery or Animal planet than to visit any sanctuary in India. There are so much options in other countries for sports and cultural activities. But for the middle class family in India films are the only mode a entertainment. We are bored to see the same Actors/ Actresses and the same Hero, Heroine and Villain story but we have no other choice. There are so many talented persons in other fields or art and culture, but most of us will prefer for the movies only because we don't uderstand the Mudras or Ragas. We are very much ignorant of our own culture. Sports and games keep us healthy and confident. We need to develop infrastructure for encouraging the sports and cultural activities, only than we will be able to produce the real gems and not the fake ones like those of the actors.

Concept of being a HIT movie changed over the years!!!!!!
by sunil sidharthan on Aug 22, 2012 06:35 PM  | Hide replies

By Marketing techniques like linkups between the lead actor and actress,GOSSIPS and creating a hype one year in advance, releasing 3000 prints and hiking the ticket rates by 20 bucks for the first few weaks is the new mantra for a HIT movie. Before the public could realise that they r cheated by watching a junk movie the producers and the makers will laugh their way to the banks with the bounty.........

correct and well said. In news papers I see ads like, superhit 3rd day! grand 2nd week!!
There was a time of 'completed 100 days', 'running successfully for 25 weeks'.

I agree.

The viewers are cheated in most of the cases before they even realize it.

by surya das on Aug 22, 2012 06:31 PM  | Hide replies

RR reached on 11days and that also released in normal week where as all Salman except Ready and Agneepath, 3idiots, Ra1, Don2, Goolmal2, released in holidays.. Is it Rediff deliberately omitted Akki movies?
But anyways, apart from 3idiots rest are avg movies

Lack Of CORRECT Info
by naveen bhagiya on Aug 22, 2012 05:58 PM

Why do u always publish an article without correct information ? SINGHAM got to the 100 Crore Mark in 50 days, but I think u guys have forgot that u r mentioning about the films crossing the 100 Crore mark in less no of days.So why have u not mentioned films AGNEEPATH,HOUSEFULL 2,ROWDY RATHORE which got to the 100 Crore mark in within 20 days, which is much faster than SINGHAM..so pls dont publish any article on ur website without correct information..!!

Anant Digaskar
Hindi Movies
by Anant Digaskar on Aug 22, 2012 05:57 PM

Instead of starting the industries, these guys are making films and making huge money which comes from public and these actors are now a days getting not less than 10 crores, thus eroding the value and respect for labour in our country, we can not stop this non-productive lucrative business activity.
