why r we so indifferent towards the loss of so many precious lives - about 100,000 in a year due to accidents, which could be prevented? No protests, no hunger strikes n no media hype?

Vikrant was taken to hospital in Manoj's car so the breath analyzer test on any other test could have been done on him(Manoj) as he was in hospital at the same time as the victim(Vikrant).

well... it depends. as long as he can politicize the issue, he can. for example, if is a sc, st, minority etc, then there is a good chance that he will escape. similarly if he is very rich, he can pay the police, court and judges and secure his release. otherwise it is difficult
Dear All I as Indian, in full conscious , like to declare that such accident can not be avoided. And it is your duty to avoid such vehicles, drunkards, rough elements is our society. Because Indian Penal Code and the so called Indian Bureaucracy System ( Indian Blood-sucking System) are there to Beauregard, Safeguard them. Moreover there is Human Right Commission in India who if any body take action against such people. Where More then 130 MP's are under the serious and heinous crime are sitting in Parliament, how can you expect them to make such laws after all they got money from legal or illegal liquor Barons. Why they take such action? Which may reduce the consumption of Liquor. More over Police is there to protect the interest. How can you expect a person to believe in system when he is expected to give 3 lakhs rupees for the job of Hawaldar. At the end of day we just discuss the matter on reading the news paper and then decide on two factor, first this is India and this will go on, and damage is done what we will get by proceeding against the culprit, other we do not have capacity to fight against them.... they are uncivilized person and we are civilized forget and look forward.
In reality we all like pigeon who closes its eye towards the coming cat in belief that if it can not see the cat then cat is also not going to see it also. We all are worst than handicapped people who are actually struggling to survive and we are dying a slow death every day every minute..
when I supported prohibition sometime ago in rediff forums, there were a few learned boarders who talked against prohibition. What do they have to say about this tragic incident?
Re: d

Because this is not an issue of prohibition. This is an issue of a person's sensibilities. An idiot will be an idiot, whether drunk or not. For one person who chooses to be irresponsible there are hundreds who know the extent of their responsibility, and this would mean punishing those who did harm to nobody. This was only possibility to have a safe society would be when we lock up everyone in their individual cell.

harm??? madam, there r many responsible guys who after a couple of pegs, forget that they r civilised people. Not allowing someone to drink is not a punishment! And I find there r only vices n no virtues attached to drinking. Or am I missing any virtues?
